You acknowledge it was wrong and then look for a way to excuse them, the best you can come with is either "war is hell", their state of mind or "The bad guys are going to abuse our soldiers anyway".

Not really good excuses for professional trained troops, they fucked up the moment they decided to video what they were doing, just like all fools they provide the evidence against themselves, and now instead of a light sentence because it is now a political thing they will most likely get a dishonourable discharge.

As for it being funny, well no not really, my first thoughts were that the twats had given the taliban a great PR coup, and secondly if it was an immediate reaction to a fire fight then why weren't they following up after action duties, unless of course that is a standard USMC after action drill.

 

Whatever has gone before there is no excuse for this..it's just not going to help an already strained situation..

The men were not displaying the signs or symptoms of battle stress or ptsd, they were a group of young men who were pissed off and found an outlet for there anger, punishment in my mind for these idiots would be a month of shit duties, every guard detail it would be safe to put them on, every crap job around the base and maybe loss of rank. Now however it is, because of their own stupidity, a political matter, they will have to receive public punishment which will include possibly a dishonourable discharge, do they deserve that no, but they were the fools in front of the camera and the world will demand punishment.

 

So, what I am getting from this thread is....it is justified because "they' do it ?
