Mine was the Monsters of Rock Tour in Frankfurt, Germany 1985....kick ass time and alot of EVERYTHING there....once in a life time type concert.... the Europeans do things so much differently than we do from the complete set up for music and vendors to control of assholes....funny....the only real assholes were the Americans.....the Germans were pretty laid back....but they have also been drinking beer all of their lives....Got a little rowdy but maintained control.....WHAT A FUCKING CONCERT!!!!

 

One more thing...just remembered....Bruce was at that one too man....and he was rocking.....wish I could go to it again.....CRAZY!!!!

 

Springsteen played at ST James park in new castle ( England) and as you say biggi46...4 hours of awesomeness

Hey Jayney, maybe we should start a thread about feeling old in music...a few years ago some young guy brought out Walk on the Wild Side....I told him i loved the song...he looked at me as if to say..how the hell does this old guy know.....I then said, yeah Lou Reed was brilliant
only to get that pity look that young people do so well and a questioned Whose Lou Reed?

 

Many Genesis gigs, plus solo gigs by Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins, Steve Hackett. Not forgetting The Musical Box, probably the most brilliant Genesis cover band ever, they're from Canada. And several German language musicians, Herbert Grönemeyer for example.

Bands/musicians I unfortunately haven't seen live: Pink Floyd, Yes, Bruce Springsteen, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Dio, Led Zeppelin, Emerson, Lake & Palmer... to name but a few.

 

When Genesis played in Mannheim/Germany during the Invisible Touch tour 1987, lots of GIs were in the audience, and some of these guys obviously had a few drinks and/or reefers too many. Phil stopped one of his song introductions and told them how happy the band is to welcome them to the show: "I know you guys are from America, I know you have a hard time, but please cool it, alright?! We're pleased you're pleased to be here, but don't make trouble!"

I remember the Super Bowl halftime show with the Boss, it was so great. I still have no idea what I'll do this year when stupid Madonna bores the masses. Why can't they invite Metallica or some hardrock act?

 

@ Scotsmitch2001 No doubt man....had the very same thing happen to me...more than once....gets that way when you have a kid man....all these youngsters hanging around and talking about this and that in music then have no freaking clue who the base artist is if it is a remake....damn dont they ever do any research if they really like the song anymore?? Guess not...

 

Well I worked in radio for a long time so I have seen my fair share af good concerts but I would have to say the best concert was Alabama's farewell tour. The lead singer Randy Owen had fallen very ill the year before and he was very lucky to be still singing. That day I saw what true passion for music was when they did a four hour set and you could tell he didn't seem 100% but you couldn't hear it he never missed his mark or a note. He wanted to give back to the fans and make sure no matter if you were front row or in the cheap seats you were going to get one hell of a show and that's exactly what we got that night.

 

I've seen many concerts over the past 20 some yrs. But AC/DC has never disappointed me. Not a lot of garbage or filler, just a good rock show from start to finish.

Motorhead,Dio,Down,Judas Priest,Iron Maiden.Jones Beach,2003?(i was eating a ton of shrooms that day)pure musical bliss

 

i've only been to one concert, but it wasn't like a real concert. it had blondie and pat benetard. it was two years ago, I think.

I spent the whole time trying to sneak into the "season pass" section (at a symphony area)

 

Debbie Harry, awesome! Pat Benatar, "Love is a Battlefield"... I remember there were rumours that Pat was into satanism, but I don't think that was true.
