After years of trying to break America, Jamie Oliver has finally made his mark by persuading one of the biggest U.S fast food chains in the world to change their burger recipe.

McDonald's have altered the ingredients after the Naked Chef forced them to remove a processed food type that he labelled 'pink slime'.
The food activist was shocked when he learned that ammonium hydroxide was being used by McDonald's to convert fatty beef offcuts into a beef filler for its burgers in the USA.
The filler product made headlines after he denounced it on his show, Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution.

'Basically, we’re taking a product that would be sold at the cheapest form for dogs and after this process we can give it to humans' said the TV chef.

Jamie showed American audiences the raw 'pink slime' produced in the ammonium hydroxide process used by producers named Beef Products Inc (BPI).
'Pink slime' has never been used in McDonald's beef patties in the UK and Ireland which source their meat from farmers within the two countries.
Now after months of campaigning on his hit US television show McDonald's have admitted defeat and the fast food giant has abandoned the beef filler from its burger patties.
US Department of Agriculture microbiologist Geral Zirnstein agreed with Jamie that ammonium hydroxide agent should be banned.

I don't know what's worse: that McDonald's have the nerve to do it, that the American food industry standards saw no problem with it - or that the American public willingly eat it.

I have had the misfortune to have one McDonald's burger, and I genuinely couldn't finish it. I've never seen such a poor excuse for meat. Imagining a worse burger that people will still willingly eat it blowing my mind.

 

McDonald's simply capitalized on parts 2 & 3 of your statement, but I doubt it's the worst of the 3 evils.

Do people realize nothing they serve is real food? The eggs are liquid, the frys to not decompose (nor do the hamburger pattys) and the chicken meat is died and flavored.

People eat this shit and wonder why they are fat, have liver problems, are dying etc.

I think that the over reaction is incredible. I have eaten McDonalds for years and while I fully understand that it's not the best food in the world, certainly there's nothing wrong with it in moderation, I'm currently 10 pounds over my perfect weight but I have been deliberately piling into the calories and will drop that in 2 weeks training.

I mean there are hundreds of things that we consume that will kill us in excess, as for the preparation issues, I have no concerns whatsoever, I am quite happy to have my immune system tested occasionally.

Fully agree with your comments Michael. Also I have worked for Mcdonalds here in Bad Ischl, and their cleanliness and food preparation here is miles better than a lot of English restaurants..

 

Yes and sometimes my immune system fails, and off to the doc we go. For the most part I eat their breakfast 3 +/- times a week and unfortunately I haven't kicked out yet.

 

I think that anything in excess is probably bad for you. McDonald's is fine by me as long as it's every once in a while. I have to say though that it's the unofficial U.S. embassy! There's one nearly everywhere around the world I've ever been to! :excited:

 

I have also found out that the Mcdonalds in Salzburg serves beer in plastic glasses, that have the Mcdonalds emblem moulded into them..:excited::excited:

 

I forgot to add, I would rather have a Big Mac, Large fries, Coke and a Mcflurry than anything cooked by this self important lisping cunt.

There are over 2,500 chemicals used in the food processing industry that are both unknown to the consumer and unregulated by the FDA and the USDA. These chemicals are used in the processing plants to "convert" foods into something else or to produce a food with a consistency different from what it was originaly to something that is easier to push through hydraulic presses to be formed into something that looks like food.

Processed meats are the worst but there are plenty of processed vegatables or vegatable compounds found in many products from baby food to crackers and canned goods like chili.

Bologna for example starts out as meat cutoffs that are transformed into a paste, mixed with a variety of additives and then congealed into a firm yet easily sliced loaf. There is almost nothing about it that remains "meat." Hot dogs arent known as "mystery meat" for no reason.

Interesting note for those who care. Monsanto and Dow Chemical have successfuly lobbied to impose trade penalties on european countries that refuse to allow genetically modified seed or food products into the E.U. Monsanto has been working for the last two and a half decades to become the sole supplier of seed to farms world wide in an effort to become the controller of the food supply. The modified seeds, by the way produce sterile plants. That means the farmers have to buy new seed every year instead of simply setting aside a portion of thier crop to reseed for the next year. Making this the only seed available would mean that since Monsanto holds the patents they would become the only game in town for seed.

Monsanto has twice attempted to lobby to make the sale of seed capable of producing fertile plants illegal. That would mean that your personal vegatable garden would require you to buy new seed every year as well as making the farmers buy new seed. And they havent stopped trying....they are actively working to make this a reality.
