  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

    Best regards,

Yes they do and I see the good all the time but I see the bad as well having cop friends in Tact, Vice and Asian crimes units. "Feel good" stories don't sell papers or advertising space and as such are often overlooked by the media unless it is an extreme act of kindness or bravery.

As for the radar detector ... read this before deciding.

Btw ... radar detectors are made by the same companies that make radar guns so keep that in mind if you buy one of the less popular (cheap) one's.

I've had several good experiences with cops.

I was speeding. I knew I was speeding, going 50 in a 35. As soon as I saw the cop I just pulled over, cause, you know, I knew. He didn't even have to ask; I said I'm guessing 50? He says, actually 48..........I just handed him my license and registration, and said sorry, I know better.

A few moments later he comes back and says "have a nice day" and hands me back my license and registration. No ticket!

But the real nice cop was Colorado State Patrol. There was an accident directly in front of us. We weren't involved, but we saw it and stopped to help. One car had flipped into the ditch, and either the seat belts didn't work, or they weren't wearing them. One young guy was pinned underneath the wreck, and he was dead. His head had all but exploded. A young woman was laying about 30' farther down the ditch, and she was alive but seriously hurt. We stayed around until the cop around to got to us and we could tell him what happened. Now here's the thing; I've seen dead bodies, and I've dealt with nasty before, but my wife hasn't, and she was pretty upset. The cop picked up on this, and took the time to help her deal with what she'd seen. I won't quote all of it here, but the point is, he had a mess to clean up, probably 1,000 pages of reports to write and all kinds of shit to deal with, but he was paying enough attention to us that he picked up on my wife's distress and took the time to help her deal with it.

In my experience, most of the time when people have issues with cops it's cause they did the crime but don't want to do the time, or they don't get what the cop is up to.

Yeah, I know, there's bad cops out there and they abuse their authority, and they ought to be in jail, but isn't painting all cops with the "asshole" brush as bad as DL's Bell Curve thingy?

I think the thing is the ratio of good vs bad is drastically changing to more and more bad. Therefore the reports of bad outnumber the good 500 to 1 now. I despise bad cops

There are 800,000 cops in the US. If 99% are good cops, and 1% are bad cops, you'd have 8,000 bad cops running around. That's a lot of bad cops! But, I seriously doubt that there are 150 truly bad cops to a state.

And what about the 99% who serve cause they hear the call, and do it right?

Like I said, DL"S Bell Curve thingy works the same way as the premise of this thread.

Might as well have a thread called "niggers is stupid and violient

I wouldn't trust a cop any further than I could pick him up and throw him! In my opinion, they are given a badge and a gun and instantly that power goes straight to their heads. Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely! I have a couple of run in's with the cops. The first one was for a traffic violation. Yes...I admit it......I was in the wrong. But the fact that by the time the cop caught up with me to turn on his red lights to pull me over.....he totally disregarded the injury traffic accident(motorcycle involved) just so he could give me a fucking ticket! When he came up to the car, his attitude was more than fucked up. He takes my license & insurance papers and goes back to his car to write the ticket. He comes back for me to sign the ticket and his attitude had gotten even worse. That's when I lost it, grabbed my license, insurance papers and said "Well why in the hell don't you write me up for bald tires and no fucking rear view mirror!" Before handing me his ticket book so that I could sign the ticket, he added two more lines to it.........TIRES & MIRROR. And mind you, up to this point, I was being very nice and respectful. I was raised that way.

The second "bad" encounter happened many years later. Again, it was a traffic stop and I was again very nice and respectful. That was up until the point where one of the cops saw a tire iron on the floor board of my pick-up truck. (the jack and tire iron were located under the passenger seat how it was designed from the factory) I had guns pointed at me and then I was pulled half way out of the truck and then pushed back onto the seat. As my feet were coming back into the truck, one of the cops SLAMMED the door shut. My right foot was not all the way back in and the door was closed and latched with half of my foot in it! Those stupid mother fuckers had to call a supervisor to ask if they should take me to a hospital!

After that night I lost all respect for all cops. As far as I'm concerned....they can all eat shit and bark at the moon!

NYC just got handed a federal court order to accept independent oversight into the use of force as well as the extremely illegal stop and frisk policy.

The Seattle police department last year got its ass handed to it over unlawful use of force and has also been ordered to establish independent oversight into use of force policies. Currently they are resisting changes by claiming they haven't had enough time to review the requirements...of course they have had these requirements in hand for over a year. Apparently they haven't bothered to read them and make the necessary adjustments. Sort of like resisting arrest but when cops do it, its okay.

LAPD has had its ass handed to it many times over use of force, as has almost every major municipal police agency in the United States.

Are we noticing a pattern here?

So we live in a nation that was founded on certain ideals. These ideals stand in direct opposition to the military and police culture. Police and military culture demand obedience to orders, strict authoritarianism, unquestioning loyalty, force of arms and largely complete disregard for due process. All of these things are ideals that our founders held with the deepest suspicion and in many cases unrestrained contempt. They made it very clear both in the Constitution and in their own personal writings as well as in the laws that were established from the foundation of this country that police and military powers are to be kept on the shortest possible leash and that they should NEVER be allowed to function without clear and direct supervision of the civilian authority. They even went so far as to prohibit the establishment of a standing military, to prevent the abuse of power that standing armies are prone to. That of course has become impractical but it is something that every person in the military should remember clearly. They are not at the top of the food chain according the the foundations of the country they claim to love and serve. They are in fact at the bottom of the food chain. And that's the way the founding fathers intended it to be.

They did not hold up law enforcement or the military as heroic pursuits but as occasionally necessary evils that should be used only under the most grave circumstances and then put away quickly. How many times have I heard military men claim their undying love of God and country and yet when they hear a story about a criminal or a political position they disagree with, the words "just take em out and shoot them" spew forth from the gaping sewers under their noses. And not just hyperbole either but as a matter of deep, ingrained prejudice. To the point that many police officers, who are often military veterans have done some of the most unconscionable things to people they are contacting in the line of "doing their duty." The country they claim to love and support and defend was founded on the idea that that very behavior, or even the idea of it was abhorrent and despicable.

I think I just heard on the news that the NYPD is also going to have to equip their officers with a mounted video recording device (kinda like a dash cam on the officers uniform) so they can see what all the officers are doing in regards to pat-downs, questionings, etc.
