    More wacky moonbat madness.

President Obama does not have the power to set high gas prices. Wow. Revelation.

It truly is amazing, isn't it?

It must rankle Barry Hussein to no end, that he must operate in a putative democracy, and that he does not yet possess dictatorial powers.

The Messiah told us, three and a half years ago, that only Euro-scale pricing of gasoline would force us to adopt a Green Economy. Solyndra is the tip of that crony-capitalist iceberg. Since then the worthless motherfucker, via the EPA and his energy czars, has tried to outlaw incandescent lightbulbs so that his good buddy, Jeff Imelt, of General Electric, can ram Chinese-manufactured curlicue lightbulbs down our throats. (Lightbulbs which cannot be manufactured here, because they are so hazardous. Lightbulbs that are not safe in homes with children, due to the mercury vapor. Lightbulbs that do not work with dimmers. Lightbulbs that have such a poor light generation capacity that two are required to replace the lumen output of a 120 watt incandescent, effectively negating the energy "savings.") And shithead Obama has forced the military to buy Sapphire's pondscum based fuel at $26 per gallon, to justify all the Stimulus graft it received. And the EPA has had carte blanche to write extra-legislative regulation that is destroying the domestic refining industry and forcing oil companies to sell petroleum products to Asian markets, just to stay solvent. And publicly traded corporations are voting to close refineries, rather than submit to the EPA's shakedowns. And the government is subsidizing GM's Chevy Volt, a coal-fired car, even as the EPA is forcing the closure of coal plants across the country and virtually assuring us of sweeping nationwide brown-outs this summer. And fucking corn ethanol absolutely refuses to die, even though it costs more than gasoline, generates fewer joules per cubic centimeter than gasoline, has a shorter shelf life than gasoline, and shortens the lifespan of internal combustion engines. And fucktard Obama buried the Keystone pipeline in so much red tape that we lost it, when it was ours to lose. And all those new exploratory wells are sitting idle, due to all the red tape that stonewalls their transition to production (more than thirty-five separate approvals required for each well, at a cost that is so exhorbitant as to draw the ROI out to several years).

But Jimmy Carter's admirable black boy does not have the power to set gas prices.

What a fucking relief. Thank Christ almighty that dipshit Obama does not have power.

Don't worry, DL. In Barry We Trust. Our Glorious Leader has a plan to fix it. With pond scum.

LOL, yeah, I can't get enough of Oboma's pond scum energy plan:laughing:

Obama's Imaginary Solutions To Real Problems

Algae, you say? I wonder whatever happened to this?

Fast forward a couple of years, citizen, and forget that inconvenient idea. The New Five Year Plan revolves around powering our cars with pond scum.
To give you an idea how impractical this is at its current stage, let's look at a couple of numbers. In 2010, the U.S. produced about 138 billion gallons of gasoline. At $3.00/gallon, that's a market worth north of $400 billion annually.
Obama's magical solution? Spending $0.085 billion on researching algal fuels now with a proposed increase to this research of $0.014 billion.
He says algal fuels can replace "up to" 17% of a $400 billion revenue stream yet proposes to invest $0.099 billion to achieve this? We either need to be investing several orders of magnitude more in this miracle technology or zero. Given the Federal government's track record as a venture capitalist and our current financial situation, I'll go with zero.
This is more laughable than a call to inflate your tires, which at least has the advantage of being something you can do immediately and for free (or thereabouts). We may bitch about our choices to replace this clown, but none of them, not even Luap Nor, are as unserious about the problems we face and the solutions to them as Obama is.

Brainwashed parrots can't get their facts straight. They only know and can only repeat what's been washed into their brains no matter how false and ridiculous that may be.

However, you make excellent points. The conservative/Republican/Tea Baggers in congress are in the position of trying to protect the wealthiest 1% and corporate welfare (even for oil companies) so they will try and blame President Obama for rising gas prices.

But from everything I've seen the President is already out in front of those false charges and will actually use gas prices to further expose the conservative/Republican/Tea Baggers for the obstructionist phonies they really are.

President Obama is right. The American people are not so stupid that they can't see what's really going on.

    clarise,

Has someone else figured out what your password is and is that person using it to soil your image, or are you really losing your serenity? Your emotional rhetoric is atypical of the person I thought you were, and only impressive to XNXX posters I used to consider to be beneath you.

President Obama is in favor of substantially increasing the tax on gasoline and so am I for the reasons he explained. Nevertheless, he has not raised the tax yet. Consequently, he is not responsible for the rise in gasoline prices, as my article explained.

What we need in the United States is a very high tax on gasoline that will be spent exclusively on non-automotive means of transportation. This is the way they do it in Europe and Japan. If you want to see how to do something properly, see how it is done there.

Higher gas prices would really help our economy.... Sure that's just what we need. That kind of action would devastate everybody but the poor gets hurt the worst.

Normally I stay clear of political threads, but in this case I'm making an exception.

Going on the title of this thread, here is what $4 a gallon feels like to me. It feels like a mule kick to the crotch.

It would probably be a good idea for you to acquire the emotional equivalent of an aluminum cup supporter. The price of gasoline will get higher and higher. There is little the government can do about this and nothing it should do.

The American people have had plenty of warning about this, and plenty of time to prepare. The OPEC oil embargo of 1973 was the message that the American people needed to develop alternatives to gasoline and to automobile transportation.

Those who love to drive their SUVs around are going to be punished at the pump.

As always, DL knows nothing about what he is talking about:lol::lol::lol:
    'Stupid' and Oil Prices

Obama's Forrest Gump analysis of rising gas prices.

'The American people aren't stupid," thundered President Obama yesterday in Miami, ridiculing Republicans who are blaming him for rising gasoline prices. Let's hope he's right, because not even Forrest Gump could believe the logic of what Mr. Obama is trying to sell.
To wit, that a) gasoline prices are beyond his control, but b) to the extent oil and gas production is rising in America, his energy policies deserve all the credit, and c) higher prices are one more reason to raise taxes on oil and gas drillers while handing even more subsidies to his friends in green energy. Where to begin?
It's true enough that oil prices can't be commanded from the Oval Office, so in that sense Mr. Obama's disavowal of blame is a rare show of humility in the face of market forces. Would that he showed similar modesty in trying to command the tides of home prices, car sales ("cash for clunkers"), or the production of electric batteries.

Manhattan Institute senior fellow Robert Bryce on what's to blame for the rising gas prices.

The oil price surge has several likely sources. One is the turmoil in the Middle East, especially new fears of a supply shock from a conflict with Iran. But it's worth recalling that Mr. Obama also blamed the last oil-price surge, in spring 2011, on the Libyan uprising. Moammar Gadhafi is now gone and Libyan oil production is coming back on stream, yet oil prices dipped only briefly below $90 a barrel and have been rising since October. Something else must be going on.
Mr. Obama yesterday blamed rising demand from the likes of Brazil and China, and there is something to that as well. But this energy demand is also not new, and if anything Chinese and Brazilian economic growth has been slowing in recent months.
Another suspect—one Mr. Obama doesn't like to mention—is U.S. monetary policy. Oil is traded in dollars, and its price therefore rises when the value of the dollar falls, all else being equal. The Federal Reserve throughout Mr. Obama's term has pursued the easiest monetary policy in modern times, expressly to revive the housing market. It has done so with the private support and urging of the White House and through Mr. Obama's appointees who are now a majority on the Fed's Board of Governors.

    Associated Press

Oil staged its last price surge along with other commodity prices when the Fed revved up its second burst of "quantitative easing" in 2010-2011. Prices stabilized when QE2 ended. But in recent months the Fed has again signaled its commitment to near-zero interest rates first through 2013, and recently through 2014. Commodity prices, including oil, have since begun another surge, and hedge funds have begun to bet on commodity plays again. John Paulson says he's betting on gold, the ultimate hedge against a falling dollar.
Fed officials and Mr. Obama want to take credit for easy money if stock-market and housing prices rise, but then deny any responsibility if commodity prices rise too, causing food and energy prices to soar for consumers. They can't have it both ways, as not-so-stupid Americans intuitively understand when they buy groceries or gas. This is the double-edged sword of an economic recovery "built to last" on easy money rather than on sound fiscal and regulatory policies.
As for domestic energy, Mr. Obama rightly points to the rising share of U.S. oil consumption now produced at home. But this trend began in the late Bush Administration, which opened up large new areas on and offshore for oil and gas drilling that are now coming on stream. Mr. Obama sneered at expanded drilling as a candidate in 2008 and for most of his term has done little to expand it.
In early 2010, he proposed to open some new areas to drilling but shut that down after the Gulf oil spill. According to the Greater New Orleans Gulf Permits Index for January 31, over the previous three months the feds issued an average of three deep-water drilling permits a month compared to the historical average of seven. Over the same three months, the feds approved an average of 4.7 shallow-water permits a month, compared to the historical average of 14.7.
Approval of an offshore drilling plan now takes 92 days, 31 more than the historical average. And so far in 2012, an average of 23% of all drilling plans have been approved, compared to the average of 73.4%.
Oh, and don't forget the Keystone XL pipeline, which would have increased the delivery of oil from Canada and North Dakota's Bakken Shale to Gulf Coast refineries, replacing oil from Venezuela.
The reality is that most of the increase in U.S. oil and gas production has come despite the Obama Administration. It is flowing from the shale boom, which is the result of private technological advances and investment. Mr. Obama has seen the energy sun rise and is crowing like a rooster that he made it happen.
Mr. Obama yesterday also repeated his proposal that now is the time to raise taxes on oil and gas companies, as if doing so will make them more likely to drill. He must not believe the economic truism that when you tax something you get less of it, including fewer of the new jobs they've created.

Not in February, gasoline prices have never been this high in February, with mild seasonal temperatures this winter, there should be a substantial surplus of energy.

Yes there is more drilling going on today, but that has nothing to do with Obama's energy policy,,it has everything to do with the previous administrations domestic energy policy.

In fact Obama administration has issued much less drilling permits, a minimum of 30%less, so as you blame ''He Who Must Not Be Named?'' for those high costs, perhaps you can also give him credit for substantial cost cutting measure for for gasoline costs at the pump at the end of ''He Who Must Not Be Named?'' term.

Yeah, funny no one can seem to remember $140 per barrel oil. And that was just before it crashed to about $40 a barrel because they were trading 20% more oil than actually existed.

But either Obama was president then or the world had not begun yet and it didn't happen.
