I'm pretty sure that new taxes isn't the answer to high gas prices. If anything, adding a tax onto Wall St transactions will cause traders to act MORE recklessly because they now need to make up for the losses due to taxes in order to keep meeting their profit goals.

I'm not sure what the answer is. I'm not a world-class economist. The CAUSE however is quite obvious to anyone who chooses to look or who remembers VERY recent history: Rampant speculation on Wall St.

The irritating thing about this whole thing is the shell-game played by the media on both sides. When this happened under Bush's tenure, the liberal media blamed Bush for it and Fox news went on and on and on about how Bush doesn't control the private sector and how it wasn't the president's fault. Now the exact same thing is happening and the media's doing the same song and dance, they just switched which side reported what. It's sickening.

We SHOULD be taking aim at the crooked bankers that butchered our economy under BOTH presidents and got bailed out under BOTH presidents for their trouble, but since both parties are happy to accept donations and lobbyists from the bankers and Wall St, nothing will ever get done because the media has done a bang-up job of keeping the public at each others' throats blaming the other party for doing the exact same things the other party did 4 years ago when they defended the last administration for the same policies.

Why are democrats who were furious at the Bush administration for the war in Iraq, the Patriot Act, the phone tapping scandal, etc... not FUMING at President Obama's continuation (and escalation) of the Patriot Act, domestic spying programs, and ever increasing war-mongering in the Middle East? Answer: Biased media brainwashing

Why are republicans angry at Obama for increasing the budget when they gave Bush and the republican congress a free pass when they massively increased the country's debt and spending? Bush was one of the highest spending republican presidents in history but not a peep was heard from the vast majority of the republican horde. But now that a democrat is doing it, suddenly it's a call to arms! Answer: Biased media brainwashing

Are you REALLY that one dimensional and simple? You clearly didn't even read my post. But hey, I'm used to that from the 'moonbats' on both sides. I clearly criticized BOTH sides EQUALLY. But we can't have that can we. Your one-dimensional brain evidently can't handle the concept of someone being angry at BOTH parties. Everyone needs to fit into your pre-defined boxes or your brain can;t process it.

I've been called everything from a 'socialist' to a 'teabagger' for pointing out the simple and obvious truth that both sides just keep doing the same thing no matter who's in power and the biased media on both sides is what puts us at each others throats. All Obama has done is continue the Bush policies from day 1: Increased government spending just like Bush, Bank bailouts like Bush, more war mongering just like Bush, increasing domestic spy programs to levels even Bush couldn't dare dream of...

Last I checked my personal values were generally conservative. I don't like Obama and I didn't like Bush since both of them are fiscally liberal and don't care about the law of the land, IE: The Constitution.

When did conservative come to mean 'I support massive government domestic spy programs and giving away my privacy and liberty to a series of bloated federal agencies'? When did conservative come to mean 'I support massive increases in government spending but only if a republican like Bush does it'? When did it become conservative to engage in nation building overseas with ever increasing military presence all over the globe instead of safeguarding our home? When did conservative become people like Bush and John McCain who not only took no steps to secure our borders, but actively encouraged the flouting of immigration law (McCain was the worst for this)

Republicans these days are NOT conservative. The only small bit of conservatism they have clung to is the part I find repulsive (social conservatism) where they seek to ban porn and legislate morality and what goes on in our bedrooms.

I guess I just... don't understand how someone can be so dysfunctional that they read a post that clearly and openly spends a significant amount of time detailing the failings of the Obama administration and liberal media, but sees me as a liberal 'moonbat' because because I dare to go on to criticize the exact same failings in the other party.

This black and white / 'with us or against us' attitude is so astonishingly myopic that it's hard to believe a person so incapable of thinking for himself is able to operate a computer.

Want to disagree with me? Fine. I'm happy that people have different points of view and I enjoy a debate with an opposing viewpoint. Sometimes I even learn things from the other side. I like to believe that people will recognize the truth when they hear it. It's just that so much of the truth is hidden from us by the media and the elite that people are used to being lied to and accept lies as truth.
