Two reasons for that:
1-Women are more tolerant of homosexuality (male and female) than men (for the most part...I'm not making a blanket statement here). Men tend to be much more vocal about their disapproval (and discomfort) around other gay men. I think they feel like they're going to try to sleep with them. Or that being around gay men implies they're gay as well.
