Eliminating or changing that particular rule has been the topic of much discussion over the years but its never changed. But I do remember a couple instances in the past when mods have banned members or deleted posts and/or threads for being stupid and hateful just to have them reinstated by the admins at the time.

That's why the moderators used to pretty much just let the forum free flow with no real interference.

Well no because if you really look at this thread and the posts on it the two things that remain constant is the definitions are variable from individual to individual and the actions taken are completely arbitrary and capricious.

So as is the case on most other forums the "rules" only mean what the mods say they do, when they say them, depending on who they're talking to.

Some are held in higher regard than prolific posters here. No one was censored. Each and every post exists in this thread, in one location for easy access.

I agree that having rules and never enforcing them is pretty dumb and pointless...I'm a white guy and I found his posts offensive at some points, some even downright pissing me off. I still say ban him.

And I bet if I had to power and went through the story section and slammed all one author's stories and comments into one long disjointed piece they would be screaming censorship and discrimination at the top of their lungs. Because of course what they write is treasure.
