I was in the shower when I realized that as of the end of this month, I'll have been out of high school for 5 years. It lead to to think about what I've done in that time and honestly, I haven't done anything really noteworthy, unfortunately. Maybe that thought in my head will help spur me in to actually getting some direction in my life, but that's not why I'm making this thread.

Boredom lead me to want to ask a question here, though. What have you done with your life in the past 5 years? In the past 5 years, has anything major to you happened? Have you found some meaning or path to follow? Or have you just perhaps been sitting around way too much like I have?

 

People that I care about dying for various reasons comes to mind, but the longer you stick around, the more shit like that happens.
Since you joined here when you were 17, I guess that concept is foreign to you, but you will pick up on it as time passes.

 

3 years ago i screwed my engineering entrances and went into arts. that's when i chose a new direction of sorts, and i'm still following it. that phase taught me a lot about life, and since then it's been on that road. currently i'm in my final year. when it ends i'll take stock of how well i've followed the ideals i'd set for myself.

 

Let's see.....

I guess in the productive area, I have written 3 books and published 2; written 11 articles and published 7; but I haven't won any awards, which is a negative compared to the previous 5 years.

I have only done about 20 paintings, which is WAY down from the previous 5 years and sales are way down, but then again, I have been putting more time into writing (3 books currently in various stages of completion).

All in all, so-so......

 

Sold my business, finished my doctorate, took early retirement.

 

Amongst other things..... I have masturbated about 5000 times

Went to Disneyland twice with Cynthia.

Found out that if you are over 50, no matter how well qualified or what your degrees or experience, companies won't hire you because their insurance companies don't want to insure you. Over 300 applications and NO response;40yrs in charge of engineering;22 years teaching music;10yrs jr. college teaching; Division Mgr of Electrical Contracting for 7 yrs, my own engineering business for 7.Real Estate Broker License in CA, useless here. All for nought!

Got through A School as an E-2 Striker
Got through Imagery C School as an ISSA
Went to the Office of Naval Intelligence where I earned two Navy/Marine Corp Achievement Medals, 1 Global War on Terrorism Medal, National Defense Medal, Made E-3 and E-4 and received many commander's coins including the Director of NGA's, and I earned my Information Dominance Warfare Pin
I am now with a squadron in Jacksonville where I have received a Good Conduct Award, my Air Warfare Pin, and my Third Navy/Marine Corp Achievement Medal and my Sea Service Deployment Ribbon.

In my personal life I have gotten married and had a beautiful son, bought and paid off a brand new 2011 vehicle in 9 months, and I successfully provide for my family off one pay check and continue to save money in various savings accounts and investment funds.


I'd say I've done pretty well for myself and I'm constantly trying to improve my life

 

Discovered that more of my friends are dead, most from cancer of one kind or another, found out I am on the same list.

And I boiled an egg this morning.

 

I finished high school, finished college, got married, and we just closed on a house in December. Now we're thinking of moving to find better ways of making that Almighty dollar. I don't think its too bad for my age.

 

Had 8 jobs, 3 homes, 5 partners.
Made some friends, lost some friends to a variety of illnesses.
Made a shitload of money, lost a bigger shitload of money.
Had sex for the first time in over a decade.
Had the first orgasm I didn't give myself.
Found a never-fail dinner party meal that can be whipped up at a moment's notice.
Shaved my pussy.
Discovered a deep love of lychees.
Was roofied.
Started making jewellery and found people willing to pay good money for it.
Got the all-clear after being diagnosed with cervical cancer.

I've had worse five year periods.
