Just an observation , to alienate oneself from the gay community on voting day is not a smart move, regardless of who it is. That is a big part of the voting public.

Gay marriage has not been an issue I cared much about. My only concern is that it not hurt the Democrats. This is the kind of issue that has gotten the Democratic Party in trouble since the the 1960s.

Nevertheless, public opinion seems to be shifting rather quickly in favor it gay marriage, so it seems to be something the Democrats can gain more votes on than they will lose. The way to get places in politics is to get in front of popular issues.

On some issues opinion shifts, but I do not see opinion shifting on gay marriage. As it becomes more common more heterosexuals who value heterosexual marriage are likely to come to realize that homosexual marriage does not threaten heterosexual marriage.

 

Not like the majority of gay community is going to vote for Romney, makes no difference what his opinion is to be honest.
