You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

I am going to throw in on this whole car debate for a second...european car manufacturers in the 40's, 50's and 60's couldnt make a decent car to save their lives. Sure, they could take the un usualy sharp corners of european roads at more that a snails pace...but here in the states we dont have that concern. The european cars could only corner as long as they were actualy running. Automotive reliability and ruggedness was almost exclusively the domain of American auto manufacturers. Thats why it took so long for cars like Volkwagon, Mercedes, Jaguar, Triumph, Fiat, Volvo, Saab, BMW and so many others to catch on here in the states. We knew they were great fun when they were working, but they lacked the turn key reliability of the average American car. It wasnt until the seventies that the europeans and the Japanese uncovered the secret to breaking into the American market that sales actualy started to climb here. The secret they discovered is that the average American wants to be able to get in the car, turn the key and drive off...every single time they do it. They dont want to have to hastle with a bunch of mechanical drama every time they run off to the hair dresser or the local tavern. The American auto manufacturers made cars that were relatively drama free...

And lets not forget...our cars were also a lot cheaper and easier to fix when they did go wrong. Try chasing down an electical short on a 1960's Jaguar...The whole silly electrical system was one gigantic short circuit. And dont try denying it...its true.

The U.S. lost its place in the hearts of American car buyers when the 1970's rolled around. The manufacturers figured they could rest on their laurels and coast since the Japanese and Europeans were only making junk...they didnt realize that the quality of those cars had grown by leaps and bounds and the styling ws lightyears ahead of anything the Americans were producing. We had cars like the Gremlin and the Pacer (go look them up if you need a good laugh) and they were trash. The 1970's were considered by car fans in the U.S. as a crime aginst humanity in terms of the garbage the U.S. auto makers were spewing out while euope and Japan just kept getting better and better. In the end, the U.S. car makers lost because they got lazy and complacent and never have regained their ability to pack styling, complete reliabilty and power into a single package.

Just as a side note, Japanese cars were so cheap and so rotten that in 1970, the local Ford dealership had an unusual special offer going on for over a year. With the purchase of a new Ford LTD they would GIVE you a free Subaru. That was the only way to get rid of the damned things. Chrysler did something simmilar with the little honda coupe in the early seventies.

I am going to throw another ground breaking contribution to the world that Americans developed. It has saved lives and warmed hearts and even helped to educate children.

    Rice crispy treats!:p

Strangely...the above is not hyperbole...its true. They have been used to raise funding for all manner of things like cancer research and public safety and they were invented to help raise money for the Camp Fire program. And I know they warm my heart...so there! :p

Well this is a bit more like it. Invented the United Nations. How do you invent an agreement between nations?

Wonderful jet liners. yes, and powered by a jet engine invented by Frank Whittle an Englishman, TV invented by a bloody Scot James Logie Baird.

Became less racist is a good one.

    But the biggies.

    1) American sneakers with those nifty wide bands round them, they still look so cool.
    2) Those kids trikes with the trailers, I only ever saw those in the kids story books I read to my little darlings at story time.
    3) Hamburgers. Don't you mention any bloody Germans to me ,I give that to the US of A. I love burgers.
    4) American Hotdogs, name says it doesn't it?
    5) The Ford Mustang
    6) The Chevrolet Corvette- all stand. Thank you
    7) Rock and Roll. All the UK groups listened to Muddy Waters, BB King, Fat Belly or was it Lead Belly etc and the early US Rock musicians. Changed music around the world speaking of which
    8) Broadway musicals. Some of the best music ever from those and finally
    9) All Stand, hand on heart, drum roll please. Harley Davidsons.

The US was the architect of the UN. I don't see how anybody could try to argue with that. The League of Nations was a joke.

Well if you really want to get into it.. Kitty Hawk. As for jet travel, well if it weren't for us, none of you would ever be able to fly long distances on passenger airplanes and you wouldn't be flying above the weather.

As mentioned before, we improved upon the TV and the version we patented is the one still in use.

Our racism came from European influence so don't ever try to talk about racism.

The only real difference between the LON and UN was that the US refused to join the LON. Architects we may have been, but only after taking the blueprints from elsewhere and putting our stamp on them.

As for the TV, it is wrong to say we improved upon it and that is what is still in use today. The TV has always been an evolving piece of technology, it was invented long before the Scot John Logie Baird came up with a practical working version. Modern aspects of television owe itself to the far east.

Credit could just as easily be given to the German Nipkow, or the Russian Rosing rather than John Logie Baird.

The TV is mainly combination of different patents and different technologies all put together into a device. To which the real credit should probably go to the Famous English Physicist J.J. Thompson discoverer of the electron. For his work with cathode ray tubes which subsequently formed a vital component of the TV. Or perhaps another Nobel laureate in physics the German Karl Ferdinand Braun for his contribution in a similar line of work.

Sorry but no. You need to learn history before you try to correct others. The League of Nations was a fucking JOKE. It held no power WHATSOEVER, and they couldn't do a damn thing. That's why the UN was NECESSARY in the first place.

Actually, yes I can say that because it was OUR patent that has been used ever since.

Please stop trying to educate just by repeating a bunch of different things you've either read on Wikipedia or heard somebody say.

On the high-lighted sections, it may have escaped your notice but the American system CAN NOT be used in Europe. That is why there are different regions for Europe and the U.S. when purchasing D.V.D's

    ========================================================

In 1941, the United States implemented 525-line television.[73][74] The world's first 625-line television standard was designed in the Soviet Union in 1944, and became a national standard in 1946.[75] The first broadcast in 625-line standard occurred in 1948 in Moscow.[76] The concept of 625 lines per frame was subsequently implemented in the European CCIR standard

    =========================================================

So in effect the patented system that the U.S. uses is ONLY for the U.S. Which sort of cancels out any debate about the U.S. and Europe as regarding televisions.

If we had joined the LON, it would have been a significantly stronger organization. I'm not saying WWII would not have broken out. In fact I doubt the UN would have been able to stop WWII too. The LON was fine in principle but with US absence it would be like having the soccer world cup without the South American teams taking part.

Which patent exactly are you referring to?

Here is another link that confirms what my previous post was about..

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Broadcast_television_system

I have copied and pasted the relevant section below.

PLEASE take notice of the high-lighted section..
    ==========================================================

The two principal digital broadcasting systems are ATSC standards, developed by the Advanced Television Systems Committee and adopted as a standard in the United States and Canada, and DVB-T, the Digital Video Broadcast – Terrestrial system used in most of the rest of the world. DVB-T was designed for format compatibility with existing direct broadcast satellite services in Europe (which use the DVB-S standard, and also sees some use in direct-to-home satellite dish providers in North America), and there is also a DVB-C version for cable television. While the ATSC standard also includes support for satellite and cable television systems, operators of those systems have chosen other technologies (principally DVB-S or proprietary systems for satellite and 256QAM replacing VSB for cable). Japan uses a third system, closely related to DVB-T, called ISDB-T, which is compatible with Brazil's SBTVD. The People's Republic of China has developed a fourth system, named DMB-T/H.

Did I see baller claiming the jet engine or is he just claiming jet air travel.

The thing with all these engineering firsts are that there was someone coming in close behind so if the guy who actually got in first to the patent office had failed then the design would have gone to the guy who is second.

The Wright Brothers were the first to fly, but if they had failed then Bleriot or some other engineer would have flown first. The same with the Phone, TV, jet engine et al.

Those who came through in first place from and artistic point of view like musicians, authors and playwrights are the ones that cannot be knocked off the number one slot. Which leads me to wonder how many Hollywood films would have not been made if Mr Shakespeare had followed the family business and sold grain instead of doing a little creative writing.

Arguing over who mad what first is pointless, arguing who has pushed something to the extremes is not though.

He truly is a fuck wit.

The plane that pioneered jet air travel was the de Havilland Comet, a British plane.

Not that he seems to care being in his own little world, just him and his thumb.

America does not stand for freedom what so ever. You all listen to propaganda and believe what you see on TV. You don't even have free press.

Bravo for all of that. Guess that kinda shut the other guy up. It's amazing how ignorant people are of how much the world has received from the space program. Can't really blame him specifically. He's young and prone like some young people to just guess at stuff without being willing to do a little research. Good job!

    No they weren't.

The first person to fly was Richard Pearse 31 March 1903:

Good evidence exists that on 31 March 1903 Pearse achieved a powered, though poorly controlled, flight of several hundred metres.[6] Pearse himself said that he had made a powered takeoff, "but at too low a speed for [his] controls to work". However, he remained airborne until he crashed into the hedge at the end of the field.[citation needed]
