  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

    Best regards,

Butt glue. You need butt glue. Apply it liberally to your ass, sit down and write. That's what I've found works the best for me.:excited:

Yes, that would be even more out of place in 1769. :p And 1767. And 1794. Yeah, the story ranges around a bit.

I love the set up. I'd had a ridiculous concept I'd wanted to write for a while, and as soon as I paired it with this opening, I had a wellspring of ideas.

I mean, it's going to be awful, so awful, but it will be nice to get it out of my system.

Alternate history fiction is a growing genre.

Started my entry, I wrote my first 8 pages this morning but I'm not sure I have anything usable yet.

"It was the sumer of 69. It was the summer of my first love and heartbreak." I think is all the usable matterial I have so far.

I have a fun new concept I'm working on for this CAW. Most of the stories I work on and have posted so far have been concepts I came up with a long time ago but never wrote, but I have a whole new idea for what I will submit for this contest.

I think the last CAW really raised the bar for entries or at least it did for me. It really showed me the level of stories you guys can write and I'm coming in swinging this time, or at least I hope so.

Good luck everyone during the writing phase and I can't wait to read all the stories this time around.

I changed the word 'signaling' to sign and omitted the second 'the'. Other than those adjustments, I've left the paragraphs as they were.

    And *hand raised*.

I would have...until I read your comment: "...These characters are taking me places I'm not sure I want to go."

Wondering if those are places that I might want to go.

Sounds like we are going to have some wonderful entries in CAW 12, I am looking forward to the stories, each should be beyond compare, though I do see myself as fortunate if I even make the top ten with a single vote.

Oh well, tis as they say:

“The heat waves shimmered in the distance, inexorably rising off the sand in an unmerciful display of Mother Nature’s authority. My Indian Princess Jasmine was nowhere to be found. Off to the left, the horns could be heard, the horns signaling the start of another battle.”

It was the summer of 1869. It was the summer of my life ending in India…

Of course, walking around in India, reading a book, can make life a bit complicated when you do not hear the trumpeting of an elephant who has decided the banana in your hand smells delicious...

Of course if someone needs an idea, you can make it like thus:

“The heat waves shimmered in the distance, inexorably rising off the sand in an unmerciful display of Mother Nature’s authority. My Indian Princess Jasmine was nowhere to be found. Off to the left, the rumbling could be heard, the echoes signaling the start of another building collapsing.”

It was the summer of 1969, It was the summer of my life ending in Indiana…

I gazed upon the wreckage of the once great city, ladel in my hand, smoke rising from the iron cauldron rendered in twain at my feet. Ruefully I shake my head at the contemplation of such mammoth damage wrought...

"Never," I declared to anyone who could hear and still cared, "Never will I once again make a chili THAT SPICY!!!"

    If someone needs writing ideas...

    Star Wars:

The heat waves shimmered in the distance, inexorably rising off the sand in an unmerciful display of mother nature's authority. R2D2 was nowhere to be found. Off to the left, banthas could be heard, the trumpeting of their elephantine-sized voices signaling the presence of another bnad of Tusken Raiders.

It was the summer of '69. It was the summer of the Empire.

    Star Trek

The heat waves shimmered in the distance, inexorably rising off the sand in an unmerciful display of mother nature's authority. The Borg was nowhere to be found. Off to the left, Zefram Cochran could be heard, the cursing signaling the beginning of another another day in paradise.

It was the summer of '69. It was the summer of First Contact.

    1869 - Transcontinental Railroad

The heat waves shimmered in the distance, inexorably rising off the sand in an unmerciful display of mother nature's authority. Mr. Durant was nowhere to be found. Off to the left, the pounding of railroad spikes could be heard, the incessant clanking signaling the end of another milestone in American history.

It was the summer of '69. It was the summer of the completion of the transcontinental railroad, and the summer that I met Miss Ellie.

The Year 69 - Death of an Apostle

The heat waves shimmered in the distance, inexorably rising off the sand in an unmerciful display of mother nature's authority. John, son of Zebedee, was nowhere to be found. Off to the left, hammering of wood could be heard, the wailing of women signaling the oncoming of another crucifixion.

It was the summer of '69. It was the summer of Simon Peter's death.

1969 - Ted Kennedy For Lifeguard?

The heat waves shimmered in the distance, inexorably rising off the sand in an unmerciful display of mother nature's authority. Mary Jo was nowhere to be found. Off to the left, sirens could be heard, the approaching police cars signaling the onset of another political cover-up.

It was the summer of '69. It was the summer of Chappaquiddick.

1969 - One small step for man

The heat waves shimmered in the distance, inexorably rising off the sand in an unmerciful display of mother nature's authority. Human presence was nowhere to be found. Off to the left, nothing, of course, could be heard, the small disc of the Earth against the vast black expanse of space signaling the start of another milestone in human achievement.

It was the summer of '69. It was the summer of my walk on the moon.

    1969 - The Manson Family

The heat waves shimmered in the distance, inexorably rising off the sand in an unmerciful display of mother nature's authority. Sharon was nowhere to be found. Off to the left, the slow wheezing of a death rattle could be heard, the pathetic sound signaling the snuffing out of another useless life.

It was the summer of '69. It was the summer of me, Charles Manson, and my followers.

1969 - The Summer of Free Love at Woodstock

The heat waves shimmered in the distance, inexorably rising off the sand in an unmerciful display of mother nature's authority. My girlfriend was nowhere to be found. Off to the left, Janis Joplin could be heard, the scratchy, soulful voice signaling the continuation of another segment of this massive, historic gathering.

It was the summer of '69. It was the summer of Shankar, Baez, Jefferson Airplane, and Hendrix. It was the summer of Woodstock.

    Happy writing!

Not that I'm suggesting the fine upstanding members contemplating submitting an entry for CAW12 would do such a thing but 69 can also, I understand, have a non numeric meaning as well.

    Apparently, so they say...

Finally got the bug in my computer erased so after three weeks of limbo, using proxy IPs which were soon banned or would not allow me to post, I am now back up and running. Hope to fit this challenge in with a partially written story I have. :)

Good! From what I've seen posted, there may not be that many entries, which means a better chance of snagging votes.

    Good luck!

From what I've seen, you've got some new writers in the bunch. It's early and it's summer. Give us some time.

    Only 2100 words so far.
