My daughter suffers from agorophobia and can get anxiety attacks at times just thinking about going out amongst people.
Luckily she has a good doctor that has found the right medications as well as a few friends that understand her illness and support her.

 

Well I'm in my 50's and overweight, so I definitely don't ignore feelings of pain or pressure in my chest. Better safe than sorry.

 

It's been quite a few years since I experienced that episode.

Talk about better safe than sorry...about 3 years ago, my dad experienced what he thought was heartburn for several days so he drove himself to the ER to get it checked. He was having a heart attack and ended up with a 6-way bypass the next day!!! The surgeon told him it looked like he had had a previous heart attack at some time and my dad has no recollection of ever feeling it.

nope. never had one. you just need to calm down yourself thats it.
do deep breathing practice. In Today's environment people have forgot to even breath properly. So do deep breathing in a relax position probably lie down that will make your mind feel relax.

Deep breathing may not be good if you don't do it right. When my boy had attacks he was told to put a paper bag over his nose and mouth and breathe - it helps to restore the correct balance of carbon dioxide/oxygen.

 

I had one once. It landed me in the hospital after a very expensive ambulance ride. I had a heart arrhythmia that caused me to briefly feel a slight tightening of my chest and some jaw discomfort. I felt my heart skip a couple beats and my imagination started running wild. Not just a little wild...extremely wild. Next thing I knew I had stopped my car at a fire station and gone inside. The paramedics hooked me up and couldnt find any indication of a heat attack but they werent convinced everything was okay either so they loaded me up and wisked me of to the ER. That trip cost eight hundred dollars.

The ER doctor looked at my EKG and I got an x-ray and I was told that I needed to drink more water, lay off the caffiene and get more rest. Total ER bill....just over one thousand dollars. That included the four hundred dollars that the doctor chages for five minuets worth of diagnostic work and breaking the bad news to the patient.

Needless to say I dont panic anymore....if its my time, fuck it. The coroner can pick my ass up wherever I fall.

 

Tim, that sounds very familiar. I have a condition that will sometimes mimic a heart attack. I once ran every stoplight to get myself to the ER at my local hospital. They hooked up the ekg and said I was just fine. lol I couldn't believe it. Now that I know what it is, I just take two rolaids and everything is okay.

Now I'll probably die from a heart attack with a wad of rolaids in my mouth.

er. Nothing wrong with it, if you are being serious. It's just genetics. it's a fight and flight response. the body gets flooded with adrenaline. In the past, our ancestors would get this response when they saw a predator. in today's society, we have different "predators" to tackle.

I've talked to one. they usually don't bother me. I think compared to a lot of people, my panic attacks are pretty mild. I was overwhelmed when I first got one (two years ago) but I've got it pretty much under control :3 thanks

I had them a few times when I was 18. I couldn't breathe and had to collapse to the floor.

I suffer from anxiety attacks, but those are different, from what I understand, to panic attacks. They are circumstantial and come from a place of worry rather than a sudden onset for no apparent reason.

Either way, I feel for you. They're no fun.
