In the halls of the White House the staff wait in pregnant silence about the Presidents desk; the time has come for a decision to be made, and the tension strains all of them to the breaking point, which will the nation go with the Presidents next words...

Thanks for the heads up, I'm still going to try to have it done by tomorrow at noon as the rules had started. I'm going to try a page from EJLS' book. If I remember right I thought she had once said that when she finishes a story it's done, she doesn't go back and re-write the whole thing.

That is what I'm going to try myself this time. I have a habbit of re-writing everything I post a few times before I publish it. I'm going to exparement with the idea of publishing it as is once it's done all I will do is spell check it and post. Thanks BR for the support and possible extention time for everyone.

I haven't read yours yet Snowy, I'm saving the entries that I know to be longer until I have time to sit and read them properly, but you are correct - the standard is amazing.

When I finished my story I was pleased with it, I thought it was a good piece, and I thought to myself that maybe I'd be in with a chance.
Having read several of the others already I still believe that mine's a good story, but the bar is set pretty high already in this one!

 

JR - you have as much chance as any one else; for myself, if I do win the CAW, fine then; I entered this one more to see if I could write a greater story than I have before.

And the first compliment I got on it was from a person who stated he usually reads only short stories but 'got drawn into this one.'

Many a true word spoken in jest, and all that sort of thing, but there are enough fine stories from the CAW's to make several books worth of short stories.
We'd be unlikely to get them published in paper form, but if someone here wanted to compile a selection and publish electronically on Amazon you might sell a few copies.

Royalties if it ever made a profit would be a nightmare, and might involve people's real identities (although maybe PayPal accounts might be viable).
