Twisted Sister and Dizzy's entries make 12 so far, with about 12 hours left to post. Notably absent this round are Cheltenham (who opted out because he had his heart set on another painting), ELP (who has not been seen since the end of the last challenge), and Prurient Purveyor, but on the other hand we have at least one first-time entry to even things out a little.

 

I can’t wait to see how this competition comes out. One of the things I love about the CAW is that everyone gets some kind of challenge out of it.

I know for myself in the CAW 12 I wrote a love story which is in my comfort zone of writing. It was getting it done on time that posed the challenge to me with that one. I was amazed then I got a whole story done from conception to publish in thirty days.

This CAW pushed me even further; I have tried and failed at any attempt to write Horror in the past so that was one challenge this round. The second was I only started this story on Monday and wrote the bulk of it between Friday morning and Saturday night.

I know for some writers that isn't a big challenge but for me, I've NEVER wrote something that quickly. It takes me more than a week just to think about the concept before I put one word into print. So I want to say thank you to all the writers out there for writing such great stories and pushing me to challenge myself.

 

Dizzy I read your work, and its wonderful. I understand clearly the challenge in pushing yourself, as my story just grew and grew and kept coming togeather - at the least this CAW appears to have challenged many of us in new ways.

I hope we have a few more newcomers enter the CAW.

 

I hope we get one more entry because as DC pointed out it would be cool to have 13 entries in this contest.

As far as the challenges go I think it's great to have some motivation to push myself in ways I haven't before. Until this year I always wrote for myself and never shared my stories. I wrote when the urge hit me and hadn't accomplished much in many years. I never had dead lines or any type of structrue, I just wrote mindlessly.

By pushing myself to do the challenges of the CAW competitions I'm learning how to be a better writer. Does that mean everything I write will be gold? No, but I never am really happy with my stories anyway. But at least I feel like if I push myself then I've gotten something from it.

I can't wait to start reading the stories. I haven't had time this week as I just two hours ago finished proof reading my story and got it uploaded. Good luck to all who entered!

My sentiments exactly. I read a draft of one entry before it was posted, skimmed through two others but didn't take the time to give them a proper read, and chatted with a few people as they worked on their stories.

I just realized that I missed the deadline. I just got home from Thanksgiving trip and missed it. I posted but please do not consider me for the contest. It was my own fault. For some stupid reason I had 12 midnight pacific time on my brain as the deadline. It was 12 noon. Sorry.

I am going to enjoy reading the other stories though because I know it will be a great deal of fun.
