  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

    Best regards,

The First Amendment has nothing to do with this. He's free to say what he wants on his own time, but he's not free to say it into my microphone, on my radio station.

As for our society's allegiance to shock jocks, that's one of the things that are wrong with our culture...we're bored by the news, we only want to see the latest dirt on Anna Nicole, American Idol, Britney Spears, etc. etc. ad nauseum.

He was excercising free speech! I personally believe that we put too much pressure on being politically correct, and not enough on honesty! The minute he was hired, he should've either been given boundaries, or not hired at all.

Britney Spears? Isn't she the one who shaved her head? Oh well. But yeah, like I said earlier, all that the vast majority of people want is something to gossip about. It's something for people to talk about when they run out of things to do with themselves. It's gotten to the point that we're more involved with celebreties and then we worry about why we've gone into debt etc.

You're right to freedom of speech does not extend to your telling your boss to go fuck himself, for example. If you do, he'll probably fire you, and all the constitutional lawyers on earth won't save you. The constitution says you can say what you want, it doesn't say there aren't consequences. Your employer still has the right to enforce standards and prevent people from saying hateful, racist, misogynist things on the public airwaves.

How do you say "he has a right to free speech" and then say "he should have been given boundaries"???????????

Both are forms of censorship. It's just that one would be to stop him from saying it...the other is about making sure it doesn't happen again.

And I'm with Kimi. Everyone has a right to free speech! No one on here has contested that. But EVERYONE should be careful WHEN and WHERE they use that right.

And might I add that his right to free speech still hasn't been violated! He was given two weeks suspension by his company...NOT the government. He was fired by his company....not the government. His sponsors pulled out because they didn't want to be associated with him. No one said he doesn't have the right to say it. They simply decided they didn't want them saying it on their dollar.

I know he shouldn't have said those things, what I'm saying is, was there any contract that he signed that stated not to say those things? If not, then I think Imus was just showing his true colours.

No, I meant to say when he was given the job, his employers should have stated that they didn't want anything that can hurt their publicity quota or whatever you wanna call it.

This isn't necessarily about him being restricted in his free speech, more like a fact he was abusing it.

And as for the business dealings, this just goes back to my earlier statement. If the companies didn't want to be associated, then they should've made boundaries so as not to hurt their image!

Yeah, didn't read much of the thread did you? About 18 other people said the same thing. And I'll say this once again....It's still WRONG! I don't care what color you are there's no reason to call ANY woman a "ho". I'm just as tired of hearing black people say "n*gger" as I am hearing it from white people. I'm just as tired of hearing black comedians call white people "cracka" as I am of hearing white people say "slut" or "skank". It's all wrong and NO ONE should be able to get away with it....at least not on national radio...say what you want in your own home or close company. And hopefully this Imus thing will get some people up in arms enough to take on the blacks that use this language as well.

I've always felt (and this is just me) that white comedians do sketches about life but black comedians always do sketches about race. As a black person I've been annoyed and disgusted by it. I've even written to Chapelle about his use of the word "cracka" on his show. He used to sling it around like crazy...I don't even know if it's still on. In one sketch he shot a "white slave owner". Had a white comedian shot a black panther there would have been an uproar. I'm just as tired of the double standard as everyone else. But if white people won't stand up against the black comedians, rappers, etc. Why does that require black people to just take it when a white person says something?

I agree totally with you on this Snoochie, it's time we start somewhere to clean this mess up. What's wrong with giving each other a little respect in this world. Imus shouldn't have been fired, but he has been......Sometimes we have to pay for what we say and do.

this is a double edged sword. There's always something about how we can improve one race, but we know it'll never happen. Too many people are set in their ways to change. And we know we can outlaw it all we want. What'll happen? They'll just say it in secret.

As for comedians, I have to say I agree. But when you think about how many comedians push politically correct (ralphie mae, carlos mencie, Chapelle, etc) they also usually have the bigger fan bases. Why is this?

FIrst of all, Rusty.... you can get in a lot of trouble for saying "you black people". I have never in my life agreed with the actions of Jesse and Al. I don't agree with the 30 women someone posted about on CNN. So please, don't lump us all into one category. Anyone who knows me will tell you I'm "white" through and through. I've never even dated a black man. But it doesn't matter how white I act..some people still see the color of my skin and judge me on that.

And it seems you've totally missed my point. "You white people" are on here complaining that we complain when a white person says something that is "ok" for a black person to say. Yeah, "we" complained. And "we" got a result. So maybe if "you white people" start complaining about blacks slinging around the word "cracka" you'll get a result too. Maybe if "you white people" take a stand against the black people slinging around the words "n*gga" and "ho" we'll you'll get a result on that too.

This black person DID take some action so I'm not sure which "you black people" you were referring to. I wrote in and I complained. I'm sorry I'm not lucky enough to have a big enough public voice to make as much of an impact as Al and Jesse but I'm not sitting on my ass either. Might I ask what YOU have done to help curb this problem?

Rusty, why do I get the feeling that all the words don't penetrate when you read? You quote my post and ask why I don't do what I've already stated I do.....very odd.

Well I just live and let live. Here in the south where I'm at I have a number of African American friends.. we joke each other, No one get's offensive ..Or Mad... Most I've talked to about old Imus think he was joking. Sharpton and his mafia took it up as racist and femine slurs. I still believe if Imus was black there would have never been such a ruckus. Sorry Smoochie that's the way I feel.

I agree...and HAVE SAID THAT SEVERAL TIMES.

If he were black it wouldn't have been an issue. My point, which I've also stated SEVERAL TIMES is it's still WRONG. I don't care what color you are. No one should say crap like that......especially in a public forum.
