I just wanted to start a thread to see who else has been through near-death experiences.
I have had several incidents over the years and definitely put my guardian angel through her paces. I have been in accidents as well as being burned and zapped.

I’ll start with the last time, not necessarily the worst but up worth honorable mention.

I was working on a validation batch and the solution pump was leaking at a quick disconnect. When the machine was setup the pump was too far from the machine and they stretched the hose to the quick disconnect coupler. In order to relieve the stress on the coupler, with wet hands, I grabbed the stainless steel cabinet on the pump with one hand and a stainless handle on the machine with the other to pull them together.

That is where I became a circuit. One of the hot leads on the pump was shorted to ground and the ground wire was never connected. I was held there for a good 15 seconds before it threw me on my butt.

I was weak and felt like my biceps and pectorals exploded. I took a long break some coffee and was back around. We couldn’t shut down the machine so it was roped off to keep everyone away.

I drove home that night, and I was going through an interrogation by my family because I was pale as a ghost. A friend called asking how I was and told my Bride what happened. All I wanted was to kick back a bit with a beer.

OK then off to the clinic. The clinic panicked and tried to call an ambulance to get me to the ER. Well if I drove that far I sure could make it to the hospital. I spent that weekend in a cardiac ward with tubes and monitors hooked up while they were draining my blood hourly to monitor my heart enzymes.

I took a voltmeter to that pump after it happened and found I carried 237 volts across my chest. Nothing really happened aside from a few extra heart enzymes and I lost a weekend.

 

When i was about 10 I got to stay in this huge country house. It had a grand entrance porch with a tiled foor and a piano. One morning I was going down to breakfast and I decided to slide down the banister. Unfortunately I was still tired and I fell over and dropped about 25ft, landed on the piano, bounced off, and landed on the tiled floor. I got up and then immediately fainted...next thing I know I'm in with the nurse!! If that piano was not there, there's a good chance I would of ended up with severe head injuries!
Years later when I was about 21, I was out with a friend dropping acid. We were walking through Battersea in London and it started to rain. We both started to climb these iron railings which were about 8ft high. As I was near the top I slipped but the spikes went up my shirt, just missing my body, and I was left dangling.
So if I do have a guardian angel, then I want to thank you now from the bottom of my heart!!!

 

Chngr you are very fortunate, 240 Volts nominal has killed many people.

I was dead and in the other universe for a short while, but had arranged things so that:
1.when I died in mid sentence I was sitting in a chair in the cardiac ER already wired up.
2. My entire stay in the hospitals (2) and rehab occurred in 30 days between teaching sessions.
3. My death was exactly 18 months to the day after my mother died.
4.I had a about a 5 minute window to be where I was or I wouldn't be here now.
5. I drove myself to the hospital, was taken to the ER and died 5 mins later.

I learned a lot about the reception (white) area while I was there, but I already knew what to expect from my previous research, even so there still a few surprises.

I have invited PM's on this subject but have had no response in spite of the fact that this is the 3rd or 4th time this event has been posted. On Dec. 12, 2006 I had a celebration party on here for my 2nd backday or rebirthday, two new words generated on the forum and submitted to Websters Dictionary. They fill a need for words to commemorate the events anniversary, as there were none. I hope they will be accepted and in the 2008 editiion.

I had a 5way bypass (the first the doctor had ever done) and a pacemaker. I was back to physical capabilities of 1990 afterwards.

So you got to see the other side and live to tell about it.

I just had one a few weeks ago, when I was playing basketball, I missed smashing my temple into a pole just barely cus I moved in time, that would've really sucked if I hadn't

close calls

I've never had a near death or out of body experience, but I've had several close calls.
1. Walked through a sand company whse, went threw the door on the other side and the roof collapsed, they estimated 50 tons of sand on the roof.

2. Was driving a truck in northern Wisconsin, came over a small rise in the highway, traffic was dead stopped on blackice, car on left shoulder half in my lane, trucks stopped in right lane, I did not have the room to squeeze threw, never touched a thing.
( was doing about 70mph at the time)

3. Was setting up a legally licensed fireworks show several yaears back, had about 30 pounds of fireworks in the back of the truck, must have been about 10-15 5" shells we were going to load in the tubes next, the last of what was to load. Anyway, I had rolled the back door down on the Ryder truck and guess I slammed it down pretty good, walked about 30 feet and boom. The ATF and State Fire Marshall figured out that when I slammed the door, the light that was mounted to the interior of the roof fell and sparked a little, but a little is enough to go BOOM. Still did the show, it was pretty good.

4. Was in a fast food resturant at the counter, guy on my left tapped me on the shoulder and said excuse me, I thought he was reaching in front of me for a straw. Never saw the gun he shot the guy on my right with. Shot twice, turned and walked out. Guy on left caught 20 minutes later, guy on right in hospital about 2 weeks, stomach wounds. Went to court about 10 times over 2 years. Lefty got 2 years for assult.

 

Lets see at age 7 I was hit by a car that split my head open nicely, later on I was shot at by some crazed loon, I have almost drowned, been in more car accidents that I have walked away from where I should not have, not sure if you would call them near death , or damned lucky, either way I do look back on them and take stock in where I am now and how easily I could not have been

 

I had a cardiac arrest when I was four years old on the operating table.
I am now a transplant recipient of 17 years and yes I shouldn't be here.

 

Couple of years ago, on nov 21 (i think) got into a really bad car crash. My '88 Chevy Corsica got T-boned by a brand new right off the lot Jeep Wrangler. You can see pictures of my car below. The paramedics, police, and fireman couldn't figure out how i was still alive, only injury i suffered is a gash on my arm, a steering wheel shaped bruise on my body and two unexplained hand-shapped bruises on my shoulders. I guess my grand parents are up there watch out for me.

 

Yes my friend the doctors said I was dead, and if I wasn't dead I would not have been in the great white space lots of people that have experienced it call a tunnel. Be assured, death is instantaneous teleportation and so is returning and painless. If you alread know what to expect you wont be surprised.

Now there is no doubt that you can suffer tremendously before you die if you have cancer, like me dear friend Rose when she was 87. The day before she died I saw her and she looked like she was 9 months pregnant, and not able to barely converse, you couldn't understand her due to the morphine keeping her so doped up for the pain. She had intestinal cancer and didn't know it until a few weeks before she died. I drove her to the hospital, as she was having severe abdominal pains. After the first week they said she could go home in another week. Then the diagnosis became terminal cancer.

 

I was injured and had surgery on my back and started bleeding unconntrollably. I received 27 units of blood and could see the whole ordeal from the ceiling of my room. (near death experience)

 

I've earned the nickname Lazerus from my friends because I've died once (drown when I was 3) and almost died 5 other times.

I once decided to go swimming in the atlantic ocean, mid october right before a storm....i was lucky that a dredge pipe was near to pull myself in by or i would be at the bottom of the ocean

 

Those rip currents will get ya man, good fortune to have had something to pull yourself in with.

 

stabbed myself in and just covered it up with my pj pants and went to sleep, some guy saw it 3 days later and force me to the hospital, the doctor said the only reason i hadnt been infected was because i had strong protecting cells, i must have been stabbed over 5 times by stupid branch that were shapped like a spear but never went to the hospital

been dropped 20 feet inside a hole in the middle of a grass piles, you know the grass you feed the cows or animal, that place was so dusty, dont even remember how i got out hahaha

got dared to run to the garage that was 200feet+ away, it was winter and about -25, 4 feet of snow from the hot tub till the garage, i was in a boxer style swimsuit and all wet from the hottub, i went to the garage came back in the hotub and had a huge headache that night

and my personal favorite that half of the people here are not gonna beleive me, ive been hit by lightning, ive been raised on a farm and pretty much everyone in my fammily has been hit, i was in the field getting the potatoes out of the ground in a hurry cause the sky was dark.the thunder just started coming down and i got hit by one wich my dog also felt cause he ran all the way to the house, i hate the people that say that its impossible to survive thunder

As a small child I was very nearly killed by a rabid dog, however I have never had any in which my life was truly in danger since then.

I think the phrase near-death experience is misleading in this context, as the original poster seems to be interested in experiences where people have almost died, as opposed to the "near-death experiences" people have reported in which they found themselves in some sort of after-life realm. This phenomena is merely generated by brain function, and is in fact another form of extremely vivid dreaming.
