There are almost none of these so-called 'conservatives' left in the house or the senate. They're all bought and paid-for bitch-boys for special interests of all stripes. When some truly principled people are elected to office, and assume leadership roles in the party, you might have a shot, but right now the 'conservatives' are trying to row upstream without any paddles. If the election had been held in Canada, Obama would have been elected by a 7-1 majority.

Our Conservative government was elected with less than 40% of the vote. There are a lot of people, like myself, that aren't fans of them.

 

There is talk of another pipeline from Alberta to British Columbia to ship raw bitumen to China. People are really losing their shit about that one and deservedly so.

The Keystone pipeline will happen, that was just a matter of politics.

The plan calls for oil tankers to ship heavy crude through some pristine watersheds on the west coast.

Everyone is up in arms about it.

Harper thinks he can ram it through, but I think he is mistaken.

 

Our government is also trying to sneak through a pretty comprehensive trade deal with the Chinese government.

Nobody knows enough of the details to know whether or not it is a good deal. The fuckers are being very secretive about it.

 

Once again that's exactly correct. Much to the shock and protest of environmentalists in the US the Keystone Pipeline is a done deal and the only delay was changing the route which the conservative/Republican/Tea Bagger tried to ram rod through without doing environmental impact studies. Which is a really bad idea considering the toxic and entirely different characteristics of tar sands as opposed to crude oil. Crude oil floats on water. Tar sand sinks.

 

Exactly, which is why no one wants tankers of the shit off the west coast. A spill would be disastrous.

Our government wants to diversify our energy clientele, but the logistics of getting the oil to Asia are a pain in the ass.

There is a massive deal in the making involving a huge investment in the tar sands by a Chinese state owned company. No one is sure if the government is going to okay the deal, but it could potentially make things very complicated.

 

I wouldn't be surprised if later this year Harper doesn't announce that he made a deal with India while there. It would be another reason to build the pipeline and then tell us that the Chinese deal is good with some useless govt owned % counter-checks.
Once it makes money they'll sell it off just like 'Petro Canada' and every other company that we poured tax money into while it lost.

 

That is the worst possible advice to conservatives that I have heard since the election ended. Circle the wagons and move farther right. That's the ticket. Yup stay that course that will show them liberals we mean business. Keep ignoring reality and you and your fellow conservative rubes will become nothing more than a footnote in history. But when your candidates run for office, they tell half the country that they're lazy, no good moochers and freeloaders who just want government "things". They tell women that rape is a form of conception, that they must subject themselves to vaginal ultrasound probes and have no right to decide what happens to their pregnancies. They tell undocumented workers that they must be deported, or deport themselves. They tell us that scientists are all wrong, that there is no evolution, that global warming is a liberal lie. They tell us that conservation and recycling are bad things, and that we should continue to lay waste to the world. They tell us that we have to have the largest military in the world and use it to get our way any time we feel like it. They say we have to continue to subsidize corporate America, even when corporations are making record profits.

And on, and on, and on, and on, and on. Well, we're tired of it. Let us know when you all return to your senses, if you can ever stop listening to Fox News and Rush Limbaugh long enough to accomplish it.

 

Restricting access to natural resources in the name of conservation is wrong. We'll never end our dependency on foreign oil that way. We recycle everything we can recycle here but I still can't find anyone to take our CFLs. "Undocumented workers" are here illegally. No other country in the world allows it. The globe has been warming and cooling since the beginning of time. It's cyclic. Human beings create more human beings. If one is purposely killed, even in the womb, that is murder. Both parties love to use the military for their own gain.

Obama has been the worst offender of subsidies of corporate America, to businesses that failed anyway. Let's hope that Fiat doesn't move Jeep's production to Italy. Fiat (a foreign company) could not have bought Chrysler without Obama cash.

 

Never mind Obama is going to outlaw fracking and we will be sending our money to the Mideast so they can fund terrorist to attack us...
