Well, we've got an American Idol thread (why, I'll never know).

So I thought I'd start a Heroes thread. Someone started a "Favorite TV show" thread and Heroe's was quite popular. So here ya go, kiddies! A playground for all you crazy Heroes fans.

New episode Monday at 9/8c.

I haven't watched Heroes yet. What's its premise?

 

Sort of along the lines of X-men. People are evolving to develope "special abilities" (flying, super-healing, ability to stop time/teleportation, seeing the future, mind reading, mind eracing, etc). Stan Lee has even guest starred. (I've been told) He said if he were going to write a TV show this would have been it.

The idea is that all these people are developing these skills. There are underlying conspiracies too. They (the super people) are almost all interconnected somehow. There's a (government?) agency tracking and testing/experimenting on them. They're all working to keep a "bomb" from going off in the middle of NYC. Plus they're trying to steer clear of a man named Sylar (sp?) who cuts the tops of "special" peoples' head off and takes their powers. I know this sounds stupid but it's well done in the show.

It's sort of hard to explain but an EXCELLENT show. Well written, well acted, well filmed. OH! and unlike X-men, the general population doesn't know this is going on.

I also recommend DRIVE. It's only a few episodes in. I thought it was going to totally suck but so far it's been really good! The filmography is great! Very well coreographed.

 

Well My Heros have always been cowboys......Riding the plains and shooting up the bad guys Kisses their horse while the lady left on the stage lmfao

 

I love Heroes it the best show on right now. We're planning to watch it tomorrow night. Saw the preveiws and can't wait.

 

I also really dig Heros, the way it has been filmed is very good, pluss the show captures the sheer confusion these "Special People" experience while discovering their "Powers". Also since it was stated before I do like the new show Drive, it's a very fast paced show.

 

Yeah. if anyone can explain Heroes better feel free. It's an easy show to understand (if you've been keeping up with it) but it's VERY hard to explain. And I'm sure it's hard to catch up with if you haven't seen it from the start.

 

We're getting Heroes in the UK on Satellite channels. It is the best US show I've seen since the original 24.

The only thing I'd add to your explanation is that I think the title itself could almost have a ? added to it. Some of the "special people" are troubled about what their powers mean and what they should do with them. Sylar, it appear, is a super-powerred serial killer, the guy who kicks out radiation, while not a bad guy as such, is still not using his powers for good. The politician just wants his power of flight (and his super-powered little brother) to go away so he can get elected without the weird story breaking in the press. Even Hiro stopped time to fiddle card games.

What would you do if you found out you could fly, or couldn't die, or could stop time? How tempting would it be to use that power selfishly. What's in it for you if you choose to help others with your powers? That's the dillemma for the characters in the show. And some of the heroic actions are actually done by people who don't have any special ability. They just know right from wrong, good from bad.

 

Mohinder Suresh probably won't die. And Peter Petrelli is just going to absorb Sylar's power and heal himself. And he wins. ;P

They're all working to keep a "bomb" (who it is basically assumed that it will be the absorbing man, Peter Petrelli, who absorbs a radioactive ability that makes him explode, as well as many powers he cannot control) from going off in the middle of NYC. Plus they're trying to steer clear of a man named Sylar (sp?) who cuts the tops of "special" peoples' head off (and eats their brains) to take their powers. It sounds childish, but it makes you hate Sylar and love the Good.

 

Yeah. I was trying not to add too many spoilers (like Peter being the bomb) and have they established that Linderman funds the "paper company"????? I must have missed that part. Oh, well. And I missed that Sylar EATS the brains. Where have I been? How did I miss all that?
I know Linderman (played FABULOUSLY by Malcom McDowell) is connected to almost (if not) all of them. But I didn't know he was tied to the "paper company". And I did put a question mark next to government b/c no one knows who's behind them. But I guess you said it was Linderman.

Anyhow, I GUESS you cleared it up. I was just trying to keep some of it back for the Aussies who are a bit behind us and those that are waiting for the whole season on DVD.

 

Well, when they show the episode of when Mr. Bennett gets Claire, it shows Hiro's dad, the Australian, and the manager of the "paper company."

There is also an episode where Bennett is on the phone with Linderman.

And yes, Malcolm McDowell is amazing. "Now you can't have any of my pot pie."

 

In the begining of the series they hint that Mr. Linderman is nothing more then a Mob type boss, but now it seems to me that there is a whole lot more than meets the eye with this character, and yes they could not have found a better actor to play that role. Tip my hat to NBC on that choice.

I've got to watch this show tonight, I've never seen it.....Sounds like it may be very good!!!

 

Dunno, RP. You might be totally lost. It's hard to catch up on. But give it a try. It's a fun show. DRIVE is on Fox right now. Decent show as well.

 

A couple of the actors were on a local tv show today. They said they were going to review things in the story today.......I hope I'm not lost......I'll just ask questions here later, Snoochie!!!
