I was listening to the Ben Ferguson show yesterday, and I enjoy most of the callers opinions,expect for the know it all fem-nazi women,saying that woman need to sign up for the draft, and being on the front lines.I was like: "Hold up bitch,speak for yourself". Now keep in that I am a woman,a black woman at that, and I am all for women doing everything a man can do, and they should have the right to serve in the Army,but there are certain things a woman should NOT do,like being on the front lines having bullets flying at their damn heads.Let men do that.They like it,they want to be there,they are capable, so let them do it.

Any opinions on the matter?

 

Not choosing to be there is one thing but why don't they belong there? Israel has women in the front lines and they do quite well.

But for one woman to speak up for all women is ridiculous in that situation.In my personal opinion, just I feel like women should not be serving on the front lines, hell to be honest about it I do not believe they should be in the arm forces PERIOD.But I am an American,maybe the Israeli Army treat the women who serve better than they do American women.

 

I don't think anyone could reasonably believe that she was speaking for all women just as I don't believe you're speaking for all women. She voiced her opinion just as you have.

women should be encouraging peaceful dialogue not engaging in government-sponsored violence

 

If a woman can pass the same physical requirements as a man with a frontline MOS then she should be eligible to serve on the front lines. The tests should not be harder but they should not be easier, either. If she checks out and that's what she wants, let her shoulder her rifle the same as any man would.

Of course women should be on the front line - so they can put vases of flowers along the trenches and knit sweaters. Not to mention get some throw pillows for people to sit on!!

And who better to turn to than a woman when you get an owie guys? We'll put a band aid on it and write a note to that nasty shouty man that you can't possibly play at soldiers until your wound clears up...mummy's little soldier boy *hug*

Women should be on the front lines. While we're at it, women should also be completely naked. The opposing forces won't want to fire on naked women and it's the fastest way to spread joy. I rest my case.

If a woman wants to go to war, then let them. If a man wants to go to war, then let them.

If a woman chooses to enlist then she follows the rules established. If one of those says the best marksmen go to the front of the line, and she is, then she should. Why would you put men there and not women? It was their choice to enlist - not to take flower arranging classes.

 

In today's military, there are many who enlist for the purpose of bettering themselves during a time of uncertainty in their lives. These enlistees fully expect to be trained in a vocation other than infantry skills. When the commanders call them up to serve in a hot zone, many are reluctant to do so, and face discipline when or if, they refuse.

It is easy for me to visualize a good portion of the enlistees never imagining that they will actually be called to get in harms way.

 

If they never imagined ever going to war, then they really aren't as smart as they thought they were. Or is it the "it would never happen to me" syndrome?

 

Anyone who joins the army is first of all an infanteer, excepting the medical corp due to Geneva convention stuff. So if a woman enlists she will be expected to pick up a gun and fight, should they be in front-line units, yes if they are fit enough to do the job and that is their CEQ then off you toddle to your tank or warrior, women are just as capable as men, we have been told, then let them up at the sharp end.

We had for a short time women serving on our guns, when it was found out that they could not lift the 147lb shells they were quickly sent back to the stores section out of the way.

 

If a woman can pass all the mental and physical requirements, with no "allowances" for being female. (i.e. given more time to run a mile, given less equipment to haul, etc). I say give them a gun and say thank you.

Today's conflicts aren't hand to hand fighting, so a man's physique really isn't an automatic disqualification to women.

As for Richie's 147 lb. example.... So women don't take that job, I bet there are some men that would have a hard time doing that job. Being a woman doesn't inherently mean she can't or shouldn't be firing a rifle on the front line.

The fact of the matter is, I don't want to fight. So anyone that volunteers to do it, they have my gratitude and prayers for a safe deployment.

 

If a woman/women can do exactly the same job as a man/men then why not let her/them do it ?

If she/they can't then she/they shouldn't be doing it.

 

Well,let's take it a step at a time. If a woman wants to serve in a front line position and has the physical qualifications and marksmanship, I think she should be able to. I don't think we're at the point where we can say "She must."

But ask US Representative Tammy Duckworth if she thinks women are capable of serving on the front lines. She was a helicopter pilot in Iraq and lost both her legs to combat wounds. My guess is she would say "Hell yeah!"
