A number of years ago I read an article in The New York Times that said that liberals do not want to be told bad things about blacks and homosexuals.

In addition, most journalists are liberal on racial issues.

This explains why black crime, and especially black on white crime, is under reported, while something like the Trayvon Martin - George Zimmerman case becomes national news.

 

If Trayvon Martin initiated the fight, and George Zimmerman had the right to carry a concealed hand gun in a stand your ground state, George Zimmerman had the legal right to shoot Trayvon Martin.

In many parts of the United States it is possible to get a permit to carry a concealed hand gun. If one has one of those permits it is legal to use the gun against an unarmed mugger.

Last I checked, the Germanic tribes were, in fact, white. As for your larger point, you seem to be under the impression that cruelty and intellect are mutually exclusive -- they are not. The difference between intellectual cruelty and animalistic cruelty, however, is quite self-evident. So having read through this entire thread, I think the point that VV is trying to make is that if 'white people' (however vague such a label is) can write mean things about 'black people', then she should be free to add to the perpetual tire fire that is race relations in the United States, instead of trying to do something helpful.

I'm going to have to disagree with you. First of all, assuming that outspoken racists are the majority of the population is fairly presumptuous. I have to agree with SilverLycan that it seems like there are a higher percentage of racists because they're the ones speaking out of their ass the most. It may go unchecked sometimes, but there are quite a few instances where many members here have stepped up and confronted those making racist comments (including white racism towards black people). As humans, we tend to notice what affects us more than what doesn't. It's just part of who we are.

Another issue would be regarding who needs to fix racism. I'll just start out by saying we can't fix racism. Racism exists now. Racism existed in the past. Racism will continue to exist in the future. There are several theories as to why racism exists, but the overt issue is that regardless of theory it does in fact, exist. Finding who "created" racism would be impossible. Leaving those who perpetrate racism to deal with the issue would only cause more racism/greater racial strife.

The most important thing, however, is that the story in the OP shouldn't be a racial issue. What happened to that girl is horrible; but it should be viewed as adults attacking a minor and not white people attacking a black person.

It's ok to see race. It's ok to embrace race. Recognize how it forms us as distinct people. State your race and be damn proud of it, because that's part of who you are. Recognize though, that we are so much more than the color of our skin. For though it may be part of who are it can only be recognized on the surface and not by our thoughts and actions. And so we must discover the conflict in ourselves before we seek out the contention in others.
