Neither of them can see past the end of their nose, and neither of them wants to.

The ONLY way to stamp out racism is for ALL people, regardless of skin colour, to put prejudices and intolerances of each other to 1 side and LEARN to acknowledge and accept people's differences.
Not to act like these 2 and basically accuse each other of the same things that each of them is doing.

 

Since DL has been banned (by me) I assume that he has started the bullshit segment of his "inferiority" claim of some races and how IQ is based on heredity with little effect from the environment.

I would also like to point out,(since I could not do it in my last post), yeah I said what I said but I do not see the problem with what I said. The people of the US have the power, no one race, religion or other segment holds THE power.

We are the most ethnically diverse nation on the planet, we have the most mixed race people of any country. We also have a black President, a Congress that is well balanced by race and a justice system that is much closer to being racially blind today.

The problem, as I see it, is that many people are living in the 60's because it is how they were brought up, but they are slowly dying off and their successors are much more tolerant.

Racial tensions are what is left, you on one side screaming about inequality, while the other side is screaming that you are receiving unearned advantages. This is not discrimination, it is a lack of understanding on both sides.

FUnny you say that seeing as how would outsiders to large populations (which existed all over the place) be identified? By physical attributes. Hair color, eyes, body shape, etc. These are all part and partial to race. Argue as much as you like, but it is a fact.

Look, the earliest recorded slaves were way back in the middle east. The enslaved RACES of people. Last time I checked, "whitey" didn't exist in the middle east and Egypt. Please, do us a favor and really look at what you are saying rather than continuing spouting illogical arguments that have no basis in fact. You can be angry when 3 idiots beat up a child. You can be angry at the fact that those 3 idiots used racial slurs. But to classify "most" white people as racist and that a black person "cannot" be racist is racist in of itself.

Lastly, as far as reporting black vs white crime. Look at the Trevon Martin case. Zimmerman was listed as being "white" when he is a mix of hispanic and white. Hell, some media even lightened his skin in photographs. Now look at Obama. He is not 100% black, but is referenced as black. So where is the line drawn? A white monster killing an innocent black man whips people into a bigger fury than a hispanic killing a black man. Then you have Sharpton et al fanning the flames without any evidence to back up their claims of "another example of whites killing blacks" referencing the 1960s.

As long as people try to stay root in the past for their hatred, then society as a whole cannot move forward. As I said, EVERYONE, no matter creed or color must work toward eliminating racism and that is the core of what Mr Freeman was talking about.

 

This and that both sides of those with a vested financial interest to keeping the "race war" going at all costs. Wonder who they are? Just look at the first people to show up blabbing on about x on y violence.

tenguy led me to expect this article to be a rebuttal of the hereditarian theses. Instead it tells me what I have read from other sources, and what I agree with: that genes and environment effect IQ scores and academic performance, but that genes are more important.

In their book Freakonomics: A Rogue Economist Explores the Hidden Side of Everything University of Chicago economist Steven Levitt and New York Times journalist Stephen J. Dubner became famous for arguing that the Roe v. Wade decision of 1973 is the main reason for the decline in the rate of violent crime that began in 1991.

They also presented data that suggested that parents who owned a lot of books but who did not read to their children tended to have children who performed better on mental aptitude tests and in school than parents who did not own a lot of books, but who frequently read to their children.

They suggested that owning a lot of books indicates a high IQ, and that that is a more important legacy than anything parents can do for or with their children.

Sorry, but this doesn't fly either. Not all black people are out to kill you, live off you, etc. Just because you may know a few examples that are applicable doesn't mean that it holds true for the entire race.

The article is about what is called the "Flynn Effect." This is the fact that IQ test scores of many populations rose during the twentieth century.

The Flynn Effect is an interesting phenomenon, but it does not seem to have effected other indicators of intellectual ability. Public school teachers who have taught the same demographics over a generation are not reporting that average performance has improved.
