  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

i am in the opposite position as most i need to gain weight
about 5 years ago i lost 60lbs. in under a year due to illness
but there are many ways to cut calories and fat intake while still indulging
1/4 cup of cottage cheese has the same protien as 1oz. of chicken, beef, turkey,or cheese
egg substitutes are not real eggs but have the same protien levels
snacking on nuts or seeds is a good way as well
veggies are a good source of protien and vitamins without the drawbacks of cholesterol and fat

not knowing what your hubby will and wont eat i would not suggest any alternative recipies for ya but 1 thing i do well is cook for all tastes and diets

but 1 real ti dont try to lose weight because you think it will meke your body better only do it to make your soul better

Thanks Ridgerunner. I do appreciate that others have the opposite problem; it's not something I have ever had to cope with.

We do eat a lot of veggies - we used to grow them but after a few bad harvests and other life commitments, we have had to let that go. It's a lot of hard work which can be quickly undone by pigeons, rabbits, mice and slugs where we live, to say nothing of hard frosts etc.

I am re-educating Mr B - he has a much more active and stressful lifestyle so he doesn't find it hard to keep in shape. Snacking in the evenings has been a problem - he'll often cook pizza which is incredibly high in calories and fat. I make sure I have some exotic fruit around that's just as tempting.

I like your comment about keeping the weight off for your soul - like Ej's 'happy and healthy' it's a good mind set

i have a low cal, low fat, low carb veggie lasagna that most people love that i could share if it would help alhtough i make mine with meats
vegetarians tend to throw me off because some eat certain things while others will not
we have a neighbor that will eat seafood but not cheese?

and snaking on fruits can actualy sabbotage a diet due to the sugars
try lowfat yougurt or greek yougurt
i snack on peanuts or pistaccios

I'd be interested to see your lasagne recipe - we eat a lot of pasta and I'm sure I could adapt it a little. He won't eat meat substitutes but maybe beans might be an alternative?

I'm only just getting back into the swing of my WW routine - I was never happy with fruit smoothies as they seem to be very high in sugars, even if they are natural sugars. Fruit is 'free' on WW but I think that's to encourage people to eat more of it - I'm not always fond myself. Yoghurt is a good tip thanks - but I tend to be very careful with nuts, as they are the reason I dropped being entirely vegetarian when I became aware of how high in fat they are, despite being very healthy. My nut roast recipe was through the roof! I tend to reduce the nut content and bulk it up with grated carrot or celeriac, though it can be difficult to get the consistency right.

By the way, the WW programmes in the US and UK differ from what I have seen on weight loss forums.

I made a concerted effort a couple of years back, and rejoined just as the points system changed. It used to be based on calories and saturated fat content, which was easy to work out and they gave members a little sliding cardboard calculator. Now it's more complicated and takes into account protein, carbohydrate, fat and fibre so can't easily be worked out without one of their calculators (about £9.00 to buy off them) or online tools. I'm sure some mathematical whiz could work out the formula, but it's way beyond me.

Hun You won't need to keep track if you cut out fat and sugar,I know it's hard but once you get used to what you can and can't eat it's quiet easy..... Exercise it's the key ingredient:excited:

I would be careful with fat - don't cut it out completely as the body needs some 'healthy' fats to function properly - avoid saturated or hard fats and try to include coldpressed or virgin oils. I like to make a green salad to accompany some meals, and dress it with lemon juice and a teaspoon or two of olive oil. You can use vinegar in place of the lemon juice - that's just my personal preference, as I find vinegar rather harsh. I would also remember to take other oils as a nutritional supplement - fish oils (for the joints) or evening primrose (for the skin or for mood swings etc for women).

I'd agree with the avoiding sugar part (as far as sucrose goes) but never avoid fat unless it's trans. Saturated fats in small doses can actually be healthy for you, so while you should cut down on them don't take them out all together (think 90-95% lean meat as opposed to 70 or 80). Cija has it right on about healthy fats. Mono and polyunsaturated fats are going to be really beneficial to you regardless of the type of exercise you perform. I'd say if you were doing more aerobic based exercise your diet should have more (healthy) fats and less carbs, vice versa if you choose to perform more anaerobic exercise.

Fish oils and other EFA's actually aren't the main beneficiary of synovial joint fluid (WD40 for your joints), though it will help a ton with inflammation. If you want to improve joint health you should do light resistance exercise such as swimming (easy paced), walking, bike riding, light lifting, basic body weight movements, etc.

Oh, and just to make a point; exercise, while extremely healthy, isn't going to be the main determinant of fat loss. Think about it this way: energy expenditure can be broken down to about 70-80% diet, 20-30% exercise, and 10% thermogenics (amount of energy to consume and process fats, proteins, carbs).

Fun fact: (real) lemon juice helps stabilize blood glucose levels, which is healthy and will aid in weight loss (as well as make you not feel as tired after a meal).

I could probably do with losing a stone (14 lbs) but I'm not going to.

Good luck guys. I have massive respect for anyone who can get it off and keep it off. (Panties I mean, not excess weight, any fool can do that :) )
