most shops still sell beanbag rounds for most shotguns and offer a better reason for a criminal to leave or just give up than a blank wad
and yes they do fucking hurt like hell but they are rarely deadly

but again i still say no matter the weapon the shooter(s) need adequite safety training and selfdefense training

without the correct training even an arsenal is useless

My friend said that the beanbag round caused more collateral damage to hard surfaces, walls, doors, furniture and the like. Whereas the wadding didn't, but still hurt like hell on soft tissue.

 

the wadding has no real chance of inflicting any real damage because its just the force of the blast and normaly paper
at 8 feet its useless
and yes the beanbags will go through walls and doors but gets the message across real damned fast
there are so many different ""less than lethal" rounds out that its sad hell theres even 1 that uses a soft foam ball that just hits and drops
personaly i prefer a nice 3" steel slug

 

I keep mine on my houseboat, loaded only when we are underway or at a remote anchorage. This is when most situations requiring a show of force occur AND I am more aware of who is actually on the boat. Not likely to suddenly find a kid or other innocent in the line of fire, but with lots of pricey electronics and such present.

i use rocksalt in my 410 for dogs that wonder on the property
and yes if you load you ownyou can get salt shells but every time you fire that thing you had better clean the hell out of it
salt will destroy the barrel fast as hell and then you will have a useles piece of steel

As I stated in a previous post, INSIDE A HOUSE, THE FIRST SHOT WILL DEAFEN YOU.
Deafen means, you won't be able to hear anything after that for hours!!!!!!
Also means your ability to know where your enemy is, will only be possible through line of sight. "Because you will be DEAF". :wall:
In a small room, the damage to your hearing could even have permanent implications.
"You will need hearing protection", that still allows hearing, but protects your hearing from the tremendous blast from a shotgun.
Shotguns are tremendous at room clearing, and I've used them, but without proper equipment, and training, you could well become your own worst enemy.
If your going to seriously pursue this, find out the facts, as well as the implications of varying weapons "and the laws concerning weapons use" as well.
Weapons use even during a riot, with the death of someone by your hand, could still be considered murder under certain situations. You don't want to find yourself facing the NEEDLE.
Be aware of what the law states.

Deaf is a whole lot better than dead. The odds that you will stop someone with a hand gun or rifle are infinitesimal compared to a shotgun.

Every experienced personal protection expert I know advocates the shotgun over every other firearm, for most close quarters situations. Since almost all homes are restricted in size and are full of line of sight obstructions, most other weapons are useless, particularly with an amateur.

So acknowledging your warning about the high risk of eardrum damage, I'll still keep my 12 gauge at the ready on my boat.

 

Home defense: a nice 12ga. pump and 10mm semi-auto handgun w/laser sights.

Home perimeter defense: Claymore mines and det cord. lol

Luckily, there are virtually no home invasion cases in the part of the state I live in(Az), because homeowners are NEVER prosecuted for shooting intruders,whether they are armed or not.
