Your point that social security is a mandatory tax for most (not all) is certainly a good one. When I researched further the foundation of the usage of the word entitlement as relates to social security is simply a pejorative term and is not a quantified benefit class. I'm embarrassed I didn't know this. Live and learn

Anyway, the word entitlement could be summarized as a benefit without regard to contribution. And if we can agree that said benefit has to be produced before it is transferred to a benefactor, then it's logical to assume production has to equal benefit + reasonable benefit plan expense in order for the initiative to remain solvent. The mechanics are simple and are completely non-partisan. The whole thing boils down to fiscal responsibility.

morgan the minimum wage for the politicians idea is based on another idea i posted for forcing them to resort to minimum wage until the federal system is 100% solvent and debt free and the people are incurring more debt than we can ever repay but it kind of evolved into the thinking that it would keep people from using their positions to get rich on the backs of the people...............which on further thought would lead to more rampant corruption

their healthcare benefits on the other hande should the same as all other federal employees

and the thoughts on the social security and medicare systems were primarily based on non-citizens recieving benefits
primarily illegals and the people in the districts of columbia that are not required to pay taxed yet have the same level of benefits as those that pay taxes

currently social security and medicare/ medicaid are entitlements programs in that anyone can get them which is why the systems are broke at least partialy
another reason is that the systems are massively abused and extorted
there is an honest need for real reform and oversight by doctors but even that will not be enough
the government must get control of healthcare costs in total
when people cannot afford the actual price of care there is a real issue that must be addressed
also these bullshit lawsuits awarding eople millions for bad elective surgeries or side effects from medications when the side effects were clearly stated
but primarily when a doctor that only sees medicare and medicaid patients is earning almost a million dollars a year there should be someone looking into their fraud fast and not waiting 10 years

It all came about from the Budget Control Act of 2011, where the sequestration was first mentioned. And if you are going to blame Congress for this, then you have to blame both Democrats and Republicans in the Congress who approved this act to become a law.

The votes were in the House, 174 Republicans and 95 Democrats voted for it, while 66 Republicans and 95 Democrats opposed it. (Final tally: Passed 269-161.) In the Senate, 28 Republicans and 45 Democrats voted for it, while 19 Republicans and 6 Democrats opposed it. (Final tally: Passed 74-26). As you can tell, it took both parties to approve it for it to pass, so do not blame just the Republicans.

And as we all know, the President can always use veto power, if he or she decides that they do not like one. And only way to possibly override a veto would be by a 2/3 majority which did not occur. So when he signed it on August 2, 2011; that is when Obama ultimately pulled the trigger. So are you sure you want to use that analogy to describe who is at fault?

I found it on the White House web site where it has been publicly available for quite some time, in spite of Republican lawmakers protests that they haven't seen an offer from him or any sort of plan. Maybe they just need to save taxpayer money by firing their incompetent staff members.
