  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

    Best regards,

Sure it is . . . you started with some faux-shaming of folks who wander through here for not posting something before you did and not demonstrating shock - horror - that 3 groups of teens engaged in very risky behavior and suffered the consequences of said behavior.

Your tactic is too obvious . . . you're either looking for a particular response from an ideological combatant, or you've become too old to recall what dumbasses humans are during their formative years.

 Here's some science to get you up to speed: www.jneurosci.org/content/31/4/1471.full.pdf+html

Sorry OT, but perhaps it you who is out-of-proportion in your response. It is not just the lame asses in here that are taking these deaths as lightly as they are. It is the mainstream press, it is the politicians, it is the parents themselves.

No, I don't think I've forgotten how idiotic my behavior, and that of my friends, were in my teens. Tipping outhouses and racing one horse shays was way risky.

If you examine what we allow (or better yet, force) our youngster to do with games that glorify risky behavior. Is it no wonder that their sense of indestructibility is skewed.

Nice study, BTW, it seems to state what our parents knew intuitively. Some folks around here need a book to learn intuition.

OK, I'll take you at your word that you're not just poking an anti-gun nut . . . but, I think you may be having an oner-stimulated emotional reaction to the events simply because of their timing and similarity (closely spaced & involving automobiles).

In the time frame that these 15 teens died, approximately 74 other Americans between the ages of 12-19 also perished. Why aren't you outraged at the overdosed, the electrocuted, the fall down a flight of stairs, the suicides, the homicides, and all of the other behavior that resulted in these tragedies? Tomorrow, on average, another 44 teens will die in this country alone . . .

As a group, deaths of teens make up less than 1% of all fatalities in the US - and although certainly tragic for the families, these particular deaths seem to me to be not unexpected, given the circumstances.

Probably due to the fact that these deaths, as senselessness and sad as they are, were not the result of premeditated mass murders carried out by lunatics.

    Simply they were accidents.

Interesting? Only 74 others? So in the span of those few hours, 20% of the deaths of teenagers in this nation, happened in only three locations.

That should be enough to get a thinking man like you, to thinking of the tragedy of their particular deaths.

Automobile accidents are the leading cause of deaths among teens, more than homicide and illness combined. Whether it is 90 in a two day span or 24, they are all preventible.

All such accidents are preventible. Not all mental illness is.

    I didn't say they weren't or were.
Just pointing out that they were accidents and why there is no mass outrage from anybody anywhere.

My point is that you're getting yourself riled up because a larger than usual group were killed in a shorter than usual time span. If these 15 died 2 at a time over the course of 60 days I doubt you'd bat an eyelash (or even be aware that it occurred) . . . anomalies of circumstance should not be the tipping point for making policy decisions - ever.

Here's some stats for you on teenage deaths in the US: http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/databriefs/db37.pdf

about 75% of teen deaths are "preventable" technically speaking, except that assertion fails to take into account the information in my other link, specifically that the teenage brain does not recognize, or react to, risk the same way as it does in any other stage of life.

This is exactly what it is. I commend you for playing his game, but let's face it: it's a stupid argument.

Tenguy... Not only are you making a terrible argument that is representative of those who have been in the echo chamber for too long, but you're also exploiting these deaths to further a completely unrelated agenda....and it seems you're still pretending as if you're not.

This is not clever, tenguy. This is fucking embarrassing.

Lets not all forget the 100,000 plus people who die from prescription medications every year that are PROPERLY used and dosed. This doesn't include overdoses or misuse. There there are the tens of thousands who die in the care of a physician from mistakes and malpractice.

actualy resident they are related on several fronts
1 being that because a hand full of idiots use a tool to kill multiple victems, namely firearms, yet the other uses another tool, namely vehicles, the masses are well offended by the use of 1 tool but not the other

2 being that more people die in accidents involving water sources than from violence caused by legal, registered, and trained firearms owners ever year

3 regulations involvivng lakes, ponds, pools, ricers, and all bodies of water are left virtualy unchanged since the 1970s yet they are increasingly the cause of death more often than firearms

automobile crashes kill or injure more people than guns but when they do noone bats a fucking eyelash but when the son of a GE executive kills 28 people with his moms guns suddenly its the gun industry that is at fault?
whay didnt the mom or dad do what they had to to keep an unstable person away from those weapons? why was there no level of responsibility on the mothers behalf?

i have to have insurance and gates for my pool but yet if someone was to trespass onto my property and drown in the pool that is behind 7 foot tall locked gates i can still be sued civily and held liable in the criminal court yet that little fuck lanzas parents skate by with no responsibility?

The difference between this sort of stuff and gun deaths is that the victims of gun deaths are often innocent of any wrong doing at all. I say "often innocent" because a lot of times they are ghetto thugs. Nevertheless, a lot of random killing goes on.

i hate to tell you this. BUT, this is nothing new. TEENS, have been
" joy riding & stealing cars for many decades. the problem is a number of
things. ( in no particular order )

    1) PARENTING- parents need to teach their kids the CONSEQUENCES of
    PEER PRESSURE among their PEERS.

    2) LOSS LIFT/DEATH- teens think their " IMMUNE " from dying of being
involved in sort of RECKLESS BEHAVIOR. as if, they will be
RE0NCARNATED as soon as they die.

    3) RESPONSIBILITES/RESTITUTIONS/FINANCIAL BURDEN- teens have no
idea, the cost that " PARENTS " may have or " ORDERED " by the court
system to pay in " DAMAGES " when their child/children do something that
    affects the lives of others.

this can be loss of property, loss of life, bodily harm/injury, loss salary,
    mental suffering, and maybe more.

    4) SURVIVORS/FAMILY/FRIENDS- teens have NO IDEA that, when someone
dies, it affECTS " ALL " those left behind. their life will
    NEVER BE THE SAME.

HOLIDAYS, BIRTHDAYS, VACATIONS, OUTINGS, SOCIAL, WEDDINGS,
NEW EDITIONS to the FAMILY ( babies )

MOTHER/FATHER DAY all will be different as the years go by.

Could that, just possibly, be because the purpose of a car is NOT to kill, but the purpose of a gun is to do that and nothing else?

could it be that the purpose of the gun is to feed families and to defend that family against threats and has been turned in to a killing weapon?
while the car was designed as a for of basic transportation yet has been turned into a killing weapon?
and youre arguement fails on the basis that more people die from auto accidents each year than from all firearms deaths outside of wars each year

It hasn't been TURNED into one. It was designed and invented AS a killing weapon. It can't be constructively used for anything EXCEPT killing.
