I've noticed that men seem to profess more bi-curiosity as they get older. Do you believe this to be true? Have you personally experienced this? Anyone have theories why?

 

It happened to me. First of all, guys are programmed to seek out the female shape, tits, wide hips and thin waist. And there is the cultural programming that says a guy cannot like another guy.

Just based on what I read in this forum.

Lots of threads on bisexual experiences tell either of young teenagers experimenting or middle-aged men finally freeing their mind on it.

I've always been interested in both.

I think (not a psychiatrist or anything) but when a lot of guys are younger they are more interested in impressing their friends. As such, still in a lot of circles 'gay' is a derogatory term. "Dude, don't be gay." "that's so gay." etc. Hell, the U.S. military only got rid of it's "don't ask; don't tell" policy recently. Because of these things, I think a lot may not admit it to others easily. It may be their "secret taboo" or some such. Some may even be scared to admit they are bi or gay due to the way they've been raised and believing it may make them evil. Only as they get older, more mature, and more confident in themselves and their sexuality are they able to then admit it to themselves and finally to others.

 

I think as people grow older, they give less of a shit about what other people think. They also meet new folks who put the lie to preconceived notions of morality, masculinity, etc. Basically, a lot of younger folks who may have bi-curious tendencies probably repress them because they are insecure and have never been exposed to homosexuality outside of punch lines to middle school jokes. As they get older and realize the people telling those jokes aren't worth their time and the butts of the joke are nothing frightening or freakish, they're more willing to explore something that was, most likely, always inside them.
