  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

I don't know DL that is not my thing. But what i do know is that when I worked at minimum wage i barely got a decent meal every day. A premium of just $200 a month was absolutely out of the question. I thought this would take people that poor and give it to them, but it appears as though there are minimums that there is no way someone on minimum wage could ever consider. If they don't buy that shit they get fined, because they cannot give up probably a weeks wages for insurance. You can't eat healthcare.

    This is beautiful.

Everyone in this place (an in the country at large) bought that snake oil, hook line and sinker. Remember that fucking Kimiko thread, "The truth about health care?" She had that thread going, doing damage control, before anyone in the Senate or House of Representatives had even entirely read it! Like she was some kind of goddamned authority!

    Consider this:

Even the idiots who don't expect to get it for free, DO expect it to cost no more than they are currently paying.

    Idiots.

The truth about Obamacare: even if it lives up to every promise and costs no more than your current coverage, you are still going to pay hundreds more per month than you are currently paying, if you get insurance through an employer.

    Why?

    Three reasons.

ONE: Because the goal of Obamacare is to provide coverage at the current cost, and you don't know what your insurance costs. Your employer pays for a large percentage of your insurance. This will not be the case going forward. Most employers are going to dump their coverage. This is already happening. So you are going to have to buy through exchanges at the full cost.

TWO: Because Obamacare waives pre-existing conditions and screws all of the actuarial tables, making it impossible for insurance companies to predict and mitigate the risks of covering you. This means your premiums will have to go up.

THREE: Because Obamacare depends for solvency on the premise that people under thirty are going to buy insurance, instead of taking the fines. But since pre-existing conditions are no longer a bar to acquiring insurance, young people can wait until they get sick. This means a smaller pool of older, high risk claimants are going to have to float the entire system.

Obamacare is a disaster. But the Republicans (Boehner especially) are the most deluded of all, if they think it is going to fail and go quietly into the good night. No, no, no. NO. It is going to keep going, bad as it is, and drag this entire country right down into oblivion like a million-ton lead anchor. It is not going away. It is going to kill us.

You would have benefited from a single payer health plan, like the one they have in Canada. That is what we should have, but the Republicans, who think Obamacare is the first step to the Gulag Archipelago, would have gone apoplectic.

What do you have to offer those without health coverage, other than the advice to get rich, or die unobtrusively downwind?

I do not have health insurance. If I were to need to use a hospital I would have to work out a payment plan. I call it my "pay for what I need" plan. It's pretty much the same as borrowing money to buy a car.

Paying for insurance and co-pays and deductibles for even one hospital stay would quickly eat up over half of my income.

Wouldn't you prefer a single payer health plan? It is paid for by progressive taxation, and available to everyone.

No, because someone else would be paying for money that I owe.

Insurance is bullshit nowadays anyway. The last 15 years i has insurance, the cost, the co pays, the deductibles, the out of pocket limits and out of pocket cost have gone up up and off the charts. While the shit covered and payed for by the insurance companies has gone down proportional to the other going up. The one thing i noticed is i am paying thousands of dollars per year for less coverage while footing more of the total costs, and insurance companies profits seem to constantly break records. Now that people like myself have wised up and canceled insurance because it has become a useless dead expense and now the government is forcing me to buy something that is not worth the paper its written on so everyone in the insurance business gets richer, i get poorer, and i still pay for my own care. Obamacare is probably nothing more than a scam for the insurance companies to make 200 fold of current profit and of course his pockets get lined too.

A major reason health care is more expensive in the United States, perhaps the major reason, is the health insurance companies. They take a lot of the health care budget which in countries with single payer health plans goes directly into medical care.

I am sure there are many ways that are better than this, but instead of people being the top priority profit is, and until we get less greedy and corrupt government and corporate america i guess we are stuck with obamacare. There are other things in the actual law that really pissed me off, the government used healthcare as an excuse to take a lot of freedom away from america.

Is the U.S. Health Care System the “Envy of the World”? Not in Canada

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – August 12, 2009 – As members of Congress return to their states and districts to debate the merits of the Democrats’ proposals for health care reform, critics of the proposals may repeat the phrase used by some Republicans, newspaper editorials and bloggers that ‘the American health care system is the envy of the world.”

If so, they should read the results of a recent Harris/Decima poll in Canada that found a 10-to-1 majority of Canadians believed their system was “superior” to the U.S. system. They might also note that a 70% majority of Canadians thought their system was “performing well”; and that a majority favored an expansion of public sector health care (i.e., “government-run” health care in the current debate) over private sector health care.

I doubt anything about the United States is "the envy of the world," at least not in other affluent democracies. If you want to see how to do something right, see how it is done in Western Europe and the British Commonwealth.

why do the same assholes continue to think that making any comparison between America and any other nation is a valid point?

you want to fix the health care system? its not too hard
shut down the corporate hospitals and meds makers
end government "research grants" and use public universities and students on federal aid to make the meds as the property of the people
use university hospitals and dentistry schools and only charge a bare minimum for the services and not-profit

contract with med students to serve a contracted term of minimal pay care in trade for free education

shut down all health insurance companies

and tell the government to stay out of matters that do not effect them since they have a special plan that grants them god status

also go tell the repubs to rescind their amendment to obamacare that gives them and their staffs access to abortions

All good ideas. But you are talking about taking a lot of money away that a lot of people are skimming off the top of. They aren't gonna give up that money easily. Obama found that out when he first started pushing the ACA. He dropped the single payer because he was bullied by some powerful people threatening massive layoffs.

YOU KNOW WHAT ... Canada's healthcare system is not all that either and it is no surprise that a "CANADIAN" poll about something that Canadians really do not know everything that they would think their system is better.

    But it is flawed too..

First off the Canada Healthcare system is way over burdened and underfunded .. IF your in certain areas Good luck finding a decent primary care doctor and if you do and you need an appointment there's a pretty long wait ( that's why people go to hospitals with sore throats and sniffles)

now i only know things from living in ontario but its also expensive and you pay without a choice lots of high taxes to help cover the cost and atthe end of the fiscal year when your paying your taxes then you have to pay EXTRA taxes as the healthcare premium which still leaves the system underfunded

Now that its costing alot in taxes out of Canadians pockets and still being underfunded and doctors are over burdened that has lead to alot of substandard care doctors just cramming people in their waiting rooms and rushing them out with a quick fix all the while charging the system the max amount for your visit I dont know about other provinces but OHIP has capped what docs can charge (which again has hurt the system)

oh I could go on and on

I live in the states now full time I have health insurance through my employer that will not go away the size of the company is too large and they cannot go part time and even tho i pay premiums out of my pay every week and pay a deductible the actual service you get is far superior ( in my experience )

So stop repeating yourself I am Canadian i love Canada but the healthcare system up there has it's share of problems too .. thats whythere is a push for a 2 teir system not everyone up in Canada is happy

No system is perfect. Not all Canadians prefer their system to the American system prior to Obamacare. What matters is that most do.
