Talk about taking a page from Putin's playbook.

 

The wife's work sponsored health insurance runs about $1,000 mth for just her. She is not old enough to qualify for medicare so if she retires early, she has to pay $1,000 mth for her health ins.

Now with AHC, she can retire and get her ins through Covered California at a much lower premium. Without that, she probably would work until she qualified for medicare.

So now she will retire at the end of the year, have health insurance to cover her until medicare kicks in and it will open up a job for a younger person.

It's all good here in the Rixer household.

 

Do you think that the health insurance that she picks up through "Covered California" is have a net cost lower than the $1k/month she pays now? I'm thinking of the cost to the state and federal agencies that back the new plan, in addition to her premium.

At any rate, I don't see her turning down a much more affordable health insurance policy and postponing retirement because you and some others don't like AHC..

 

No I don't know either, but you seemed to have done research and I thought you could enlighten me.

I certainly don't blame her for taking what is a lower monthly cost. The only problem that I have with the ACA is that the system is fraught with flaws, mostly made because it was rushed into law, through the backdoor, without concern for prpoer development.

 

If I remember right, Republicans didn't offer any support or input into the AHA. They chose to obstruct it and hang their future election hopes on it failing. The flaws in AHA might have been smoothed out if they would have participated in making a better plan. After all, we're all Americans, right? Wouldn't the prudent thing to do be to work together and make health care affordable for everybody?

 

It's not that they didn't attempt to offer support. It's just that Obama and the Democrats had no interest in what they had to say. What with control of the House, the Senate, and the Oval, they had no intention of doing it anyway but "their way."

 

It appears that you do not remember it correctly.

The Republicans were closed out of the process from the start and the law was rammed through using smoke and mirrors.

Besides the obvious flaw that few, if any, Congressmen actually read the final version, there was the confusion between the House and Senate versions and it is unclear how the final version got written.

You also seem to be confused on what the law is named.

 

People seem to have a very short memory. They forgot, if they ever knew, that republicans were not allowed to join the meetings where Obamacare was discussed.
Sort of hard to participate when it is from outside looking in.

 

The dems done this and that the repubs did this or that and got a big fat paycheck, the people got fucked for the most part
