Has anyone ever had this diagnosed on them ?

 

I was diagnosed with PTSD after I returned from the Gulf war. I have good days and I have bad days.

A person usually suffers from PTSD when faced with a highly stressful situation. Most people associate it with soldiers deployed out to battle, or people who are victims of torture (asylum seekers are one of the highest communities in the UK suffering from PTSD).

If left untreated, it can have an ongoing impact on life.

Well, for what it's worth, thank you for your service. If I can help in any way, shout out; your sacrifice is not forgotten or unappreciated.

 

I'd include victims of child abuse - physical, sexual, mental or emotional - but I don't know whether they are officially counted. Certainly my wife has been traumatised throughout her life and still hasn't fully come to terms with it; and it's fairly obvious where her various OCD's and stress problems come from.

 

Yeah, victims of any abuse - particularly abuse that is ongoing - can cause PTSD. The list is practically endless as to the causes.

 

Hell putting up with some xnxxers stupidity is enough to cause such a disease in some.

Which gulf war tour did u do? My dad went to the first one and I went to these second one. It was strange being over there cause so people where happy u came and some wanted U dead.

 

I have. Don't forget police, fire or medics.

 

I was in the first tour. You are absolutely right as for it being strange. People wanting you there to help and those who aiming their sites on you. Still to this day I get a very uneasy feeling going into certain convenience stores. Then there is dealing with LOUD unexpected noises and the sound of helicopters puts my hair on end. The nightmares are a lot of fun too. But they are easing up and my wife is thankful for that.

I've seen the results of PTSD first hand and not just my close friend.
I've seen mates who have flipped out at the slightest everyday normal things.
