Dude you completely misread that. I don't take the church as a source because if I did, I wouldn't be a Christian because in my opinion, the Catholic Chruch is a joke really. I completely believe in God though and since I was baptized a Catholic and went to Catholic school for almost 14 years now, I've come to believe in him for my own reasons and not the ones that have been fed to me over the years.

evolution is beautiful becuase it happens over such a long time that there aren't any identifiable shifts between parent's and children. It's all the little things that add up over time that make it all happen and create all the diversity in the world today.

why does there have to be a deity to explain the beauty of nature? to me that seems disrespectful to the beautiful complexity of it all; to say that something just sat down and thought it into existence....

 

I'm wondering about the morality of the Christian god, frankly.

God is, apparently, entirely good, omnipresent and omnipotent (that is he is aware of all things and able to do all things and cause anything he wants to happen).

But bad stuff still happens (I'll direct the court's attention to exhibit A, the abduction of Madelaine McCann, a 4 year old girl, from her holiday apartment in Portugal, as a recent example).

Now if God really is entirely good he surely doesn't want this little girl to suffer or her parent to go through what they are going through.

And if God is omnipresent he's surely noticed that this happened. In fact, he knew before it happened.

And if he's really omnipotent he's able to stop it.

But bad stuff still happens. Is he being neglectful? Or is he, possibly, not actually watching at all? Or does he perhaps have no actual power to influence events?

Or, alternatively, was he created from a need to explain inexplicable phenomenon by people without access to any scientific methods?

 

I believe it is a paradox beyond our understanding. God gave us a free will to make choices in life, not everyone makes good choices. The paradox is explained, but not resolved, by observing that God exists outside of time, and therefore, His knowledge of the future is exactly the same as His knowledge of the past and present. Just as His knowledge of the past does not interfere with man's free will, neither does His knowledge of the future. That is horrible about that little girl, things llike that do bother me a lot.

 

Or, maybe he's just working on a less ambitious project.

 

I am an atheist. I see no evidence for and no need for a god. If God came down tomorrow and demonstrated his powers for me then yes I would believe but I would not worship him. The moral code that I have developed for myself would not allow it.

from reading all of these posts i see that yeah, some of us(NOT ME) beleive in a "god(s)". But i also see that the vast majority of those who beleive in their "god(s)" see to agree on one point...

he started everything in motion, and then stopped... it seems to me he has turned into an (no offense meant to anyone) old fat guy, who just sits on his couch all day and watches television(this world), and does nothing but drink beer, burp, and occasionaly scratch his crotch.

I strongly believe in God. He's my savior and he lived thru and died for me.

XNXX is just a hobby and kind of a fetish I guess. Don't get me wrong. I'm a normal everyday average clean guy just living his life upto normal standards.

I don't even remember how I got into XNXX.

Hi, it's me again. Was just curious, what was your death experience? If it's too personal a subject to talk about here, I understand. It's just that I find your views to be really interesting.

Not sure how I feel on this topic. There are so many terrible things that happen to people that it's hard to equate that with a kind and benevolent being who's looking out for us! Religious people say, "oh well god gave man free will, it's not God that does terrible things to people, it's people that do them." but what about disease, famine, natural disasters, etc.?

It looks like I more or less missed this one. I think most people who believe in god, do so more or less because they see it a default. It has been spoonfed to them since they were kids as the socailly accepted thing to believe. Yes persecution ect ect ect but religion treated much like a hobby is very socially acceptable. This over exposure to one religion and underexposure to others makes the fairytale easier to stomach.

Yes, I do believe in God. He gave humans free will and that is where all of the trials, tribulation and heartache stems from. It's us, not Him. I thank Him daily for His mercy and His forgiveness. He loves me unconditionally. I strive to make Him proud of me, but there are days I am ashamed. On those days, I know I only need to ask His forgiveness and His love surrounds me.
