Global climate change is real, it's happening. Just like its been happening ever since there was climate. Man-made? I don't think so. Do you know the #1 most effective "greenhouse gas"? CFC? Nope. It's water vapor, by an order of magnitude.
If you were to hold your hand close to a fire, it's going to get hot, no matter what the microorganisms on your hand do.
And your scientific consensus? Even if there was one, and there is not, doesn't mean it's true. How many times in history was there consensus, only to be toppled over.
Keep drinking your cool aid.

Cause and effect, are basic to the observation of phenomenon.

There have been many who have posted in this forum who have clearly demonstrated that climate change does happen, with or without mans influence.

Gore made bold predictions in his book and in his speeches during the promotion of it. Those predictions have been proven wrong, not by scientists, but by nature itself. What he predicted did not happen. But he sold a bunch of books and got some real cash for speaking engagements due to his notoriety.

The US has reduced it's carbon output, Western Europe has also done it, BUT if the US totally stopped all carbon emissions, the effect would be offset by the increases in Asia. Carbon dioxide and other air borne pollutants do not congregate over the area where they are produced, they disburse throughout the atmosphere. So what Asia emits, we are effected by it.

In 1980 Asia emitted some 3,000 million metric tonnes, in 2010 they emitted 12,000 million metric tonnes, for an increase of 9,000 MT. The US emitted 5,200 MT in 1980 and 5,200 in 2012, after a peak of 6,200 in 2006.

Yet no one in the Al Gore camp has chastised Asia for it's lack of supporting the controls of carbon emissions. Neither have you, you instead make the false claim that the GOP is roadblocking progress by denial.

 

I would think that in over thirty years our energy needs have increased, yet we've managed to keep emissions at pretty much the same levels. I would think they would have also increased. Do you think that less coal use, more efficient, cleaner sources, and more stringent regulations has made it possible for us to maintain these same levels even though our energy demands have increased? Actually, I'd say we were doing something partially right, not that we can't do more. Wonder if there is a calculation for the minimum emission expected by population(in developed nations), and if we can realistically expect to lower our emissions further without a serious change in energy source and/or technology?

My alarm has never been centered on carbon emissions, but on pollution in general.

Our water, air and productive soil, have all been polluted with wanton abandon. Each day millions of tonnes of pollutants are dumped into our environment, almost all a result of our desire for creature comfort and more relaxed leisure.

The garbage scows still make their way from our shores to dump the trash of our existance into the very seas that we want food from. Each days thousands of unused medications are dumped into our sewer system only to wind up in our drinking water, after causing mutations to the life forms in the water. Scientists have said that the vast majority of the prescription drugs that we consume are passed unabsorbed and unaltered into the ecosystem.

Why do we not hear Al Gore screaming about this? Because it is not a chic thing to do, hard to make publicity profit from something so subtle.

 

I agree, and it seems all the other ways we are destroying our environment that you listed, are issues we can address with more success than our ability to control the climate.
