  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

    Best regards,

    StanleyOG.

But is it not important to acknowledge that the amount per person in the US has been decreasing?

Particularly when the other countries being cited are increasing quite rapidly?

On a per person basis, the US is not number one, it is #12 with a trend of decrease for the last 20 years, while Australia is #11 with a trend of increase ove the same period.

True, and if Countries like Australia and my own, had our coal exports, which are burnt in other Nations, taken into account, on a per capita basis we'd be far worse.

That is why I argue as posted in an earlier post, that it is not a US vs Other Folks issue; it is a human issue. All of us, everywhere.

I do not think we can turn back. But we can mitigate the effects of Climate Change. And reasonably cheaply with current technology. But it requires long-term commitment from everyone. "Greening" is actually good for everyone, including Business.

I agree with you that other pollution needs addressing. In reality, they're all interconnected. But from what I can see, Humans ain't so good at long-term.

It's been obvious for a very long time that the problems of the modern world are global problems, and must have global solutions. Unfortunately, too many countries equate "global solution" with "everybody does what WE say."

Take the USA, which is the one most often mentioned in this thread. The USA was the chief instigator of a global governmental body, since it was one of the few countries which understood that such a thing would be needed post-WWII. Then, at some point, they realised that "global government" does not mean "everyone does what the USA wants" and then they decided they didn't want anything to do with it.

Are they alone in their hypocrisy? Good God no. Just about every member of the UN thinks that every other member of the UN should agree to their own national laws becoming worldwide laws and everyone else doing what they want. The USA just gets the most notice when they do it.

My country can't even get its head round the idea of half a continent working together, let alone the entire globe. We invented the European court of human rights; we imposed the principle of national governments being subject to international law. Then all of a sudden, international law proclaims something that we don't like and "Bollocks to the European Court, we are British and nobody can tell us what to do!"

Hypocrisy's a global phenomenon. If we don't get past it, nothing is going to get solved.

What exactly do you think the current technologies are that can reverse the tide or climate change conditions?

the choice of using the "global warming" title was a bad one because the reality is that what should have been the topic in discussion should have been the broader topic of global climate change

the thought of "global warming" invokes ideas that the whole planet is rising in temperatures while for the last almost decade the rise in temps has somewhat plateaued but the climate has still been changing due to some degree to human expansion

Not 4 consecutive days of over 105 F / 41 C since 1908 in Melb where the tennis is. They had to close the roof today and suspend play on the outside courts due to that extreme heat. Last year Melb had a long heat wave in early March! And 2009 was the terrible Vic brushfire year that claimed almost 200 lives. Yes, things ARE definitely heating up.

I don't think much of Al Gore myself, but his message is still basically correct, as affirmed by the vast majority of scientists.
