In Utah, a school cafeteria seized the lunches of about 40 kids, because they lacked enough money in their accounts. This probably could have been handled better, what would you have done.

Me, I'd have sent a message to the offending parents that they would be billed for the lunches and a collection agency would be used to collect the accounts, plus costs. This would give the offenders a chance to remedy the situation without humiliation for the kids.

Heavy handed tactics indeed! Just what the children from hard up families need - another reason for some of the more well-off children to ridicule them. You would expect this sort of thing from politicians, but from professional educators? Unbelievable.

 

I would have given those little brats the Heimlich Maneuver and retrieved the bits they ate before the cafeteria worker took their tray's....

 

Thats fucked up taking food out of a kids mouth, so much for acceptance in the Mormon State huh. Speaking of politics ... the price of one drone would fund the entire food program which i constantly wonder every time our company sells another fleet of UAVs.

What I find sad about this is being as this is Utah that means many of these kids are Mormons. Isn't it a requirement of Mormons to have a years supply of food stored for their entire family. I also find the taking of the food from the kids despicable and whoever thought of this policy should be fired(out of a canon).

 

I know how they feel. Everytime I go to the store without any money they take back everything I pile on the checkout counter.

 

One more example of govt. regs gone awry and it is a dispicable use of regulations, that seem to be working against the children they are supposed to serve. Isnt the school lunch program supposed to HELP children from poorer households?
That plus the way the article was written, led me to believe the lunches in question were ones the children had brought from home. Not a school provided meal. A typical leftist view and writing to skew the article.

 

How did you get the idea that the lunches were brought from home?

What I read was that the children were from families who could afford to buy the lunches and had accounts at the school that held money deposited by the parents for future lunches, those accounts were not kept up and the parents had not made the deposits necessary to cover the lunches.

This is why the school should pursue the collection with the parent, not the child. If for some reason the family could not make the payment, then other arrangements could have been made. But you should not threaten, intimidate or humiliate, kids this way, it just ain't kosher. It might even be a form of bullying.

 

Dispicable

Deplorable. Why didn't they call the parents in before this scene unfolded in the lunch room? But hey, what am I worried about, we're in recovery right? Even though there are still poor people, so many people have gotten employed lately, that there are soooo many new taxpayers to add revenue to the coffers, that we got em covered, right?

 

These sorts of things happen quite often. And as a general rule the school does in fact notify the parents...several times in email, letters and phone calls that their children's lunch accounts have reached zero and they need to put more money in the account. Many school districts are currently covering tens of thousands of dollars in unpaid lunch expenses for children who's parents are too important to be bothered with trivial things like paying for their kids lunches.

What usually happens is that mom and or dad either forget to pay it because it isn't a priority or, for whatever reason they cannot pay.

Eventually....I stress EVENTUALLY, the school is forced to take action by cutting off the child's access to a hot lunch. Most school districts offer instead a baloney sandwich as a substitute until the child's parents get off their lazy, dead beat, good for nothing, worthless asses and pay into the lunch account. Of course these blood belching cunts get pissed off about the fact that their little angels got thier lunch taken away but hey...tough fucking shit. Pay the fucking bill and get the fuck over yourselves. Try not paying the power bill and ignoring their efforts to contact you and see if you still have lights in three months.

This tactic is used to get the attention of parents that cannot be bothered to handle the simplest and most rudimentary responsibilities surrounding the upbringing of their children. As far as I am concerned it is grounds to have the parents shot and the kids raised by the state in an effort to prevent the continuance of an entire class of worthless, fucked up people that don't give a fuck and will only be a burden to the tax payers in the future.

I am sick and fucking tired of morons and idiots being coddled and treated like they are the victims when they are in fact just a bunch of dead weight that needs to be forced into a wood chipper and fed to the lions at the fucking zoo. Fuck them, fuck their children and fuck anyone who thinks otherwise!

SNAP

Ya know, could the folks on SNAP actually use SNAP for this? After all they would actually be buying food for someone in this case.

 

In Salt Lake City there is a bigger percentage of non Mormons than there are Mormons. Just because someone lives in a certain state doesn't mean they fall in that states stereotype. Mormons are told to keep a food storage, but not all of them are able to do it. Their church will provide the poorer families with food from a church run food storage. They do a lot to take care of their members.

On subject of the lunches, that does happen. It happens everywhere and this is just one example. I think that since they already gave them that lunch there was no reason to take it away, the school did give them something else to eat though. If schools didn't take measures like this the parents would continue to think it didn't matter, they do get notified and just don't pay attention. This is a matter that shoild be focused on the parents, not the school. If a family can't pay for lunches I guarantee they are already on free lunches.

 

Why are so many people replying and talking about poor families? By definition, any family which is paying for school lunches isn't poor...

They are not the only schools doing it.Its all over the country thanks to obama and his sow,lots of kids go hungry.What makes my blood boil is they take a kid in the lunch line that cant pay , and take his/her tray away and throws it straight in the garbage. The government does not care about kids

Get used to it, you haven't begun to see how uncompassionate this govt can get. When the BRICS countries finally get the dollar off of world reserve currency status. It will be worse than British Pound in the 40s and 50s. Oil is the only thing propping up the trillions of dollars floating around out there.
