  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

How do the Americans on these boards react to it?

I've had quite a few laughs - and so have a bunch of my American friends - at all the misplaced furore on Twitter.

"Abusing the national anthem" .... America the Beautiful is not your national anthem, dummy.
"Speak OUR language or go home!" .... English is not your language, it's ours. Your native languages are Cherokee, Lakota, Sioux, Navajo, and various others.
"Immigrants should have to live according to the society that's already here...." ... yes, the Pilgrim Fathers took great care to abide by that rule, didn't they?

On the first point, many people think that the "Star Spangled Banner" should be replaced with something more musically pleasing. C'mon, we sing to our nations glory with an old English pub song? Which the words depict war and violence. "America the Beautiful" is much more fitting.

Since the events that you are relating occurred more than 400 years ago, I don't think they quite apply anymore.

Advertisements on the Super Bowl cost about four million dollars. The fact that Coca Cola ran an advertisement featuring a multi lingual version of the National Anthem indicates that popular attitudes about multi ethnicity and multi racialism are changing in the in the United States.

I did not watch the Super Bowl. I do not drink Coca Cola. I do not have strong feelings about the advertisement. I am interested in the response.

I like the Bruce Willis Honda advert better.

On the subject of changing national anthems, I'd like to request we change the British national anthem to I Vow To Thee my country.

The Star Spangled Banner is the national anthem, not America the Beautiful. Just pointing that out.

I for one don't really care that they made the ad multilingual. When you think about it there is no set national language and coca cola was smart in their advertising to include a wider demographic to appeal to. It's a good marketing technique.

Before my time but Coke also used to do "I'd like to teach the world to sing...".

I'm not a big fan of multi-culturalism seeing what it has done to Canada and England but I don't get why self-described "patriots" get all fucking spun up because a song is sang in different languages and OH MY GOD A MUSLIM WOMAN IN A HEADSCARF!!!!!!!!

It just goes to show the utter and complete mental retardation we've come to in the US where the lowest common denominator seems to win. I mean, ok, you're not going to drink Coke because they are clearly Marxists from Kenya promoting Sharia Law right? Well, don't drink Pepsi because they are all in on marriage equality and Obama loves his Pepsi so if you drink Pepsi you support that Fascist Communist Atheist Muslim agenda as well (gotta throw in all the misused disparaging name tags right?).

Do they still make RC Cola?

I really liked the ad, our country is multicultural, more so than any other country on this earth.

It is my take that Coke played on that to celebrate our strength, not weakness.

The idiot detractors did that all by them selves, egged on by a few folks who have no dog in the hunt.

What's wrong with singing about how great America is in a bunch of different languages ?

We even play your national anthem in our country. And people don't mind.

Yes, RC Cola is alive and well, a product of the Dr Pepper-Snapple group.

RC and a Moon Pie is a Southern tradition.

Southern tradition for a particular demographic maybe...and Nehi grape soda is matched with the Moon Pie more often than a RC cola.

Another chance for the ROW to have a giggle. Here's some pics I found.

Regardless of language, it is a beautiful song and even I knew it was not the US National Anthem. I did find one sung by a young Native American lass, she done a beautiful job in her 'native' tongue.

Here, our Anthem is a 19th Century hymn that sounds like a dirge in English; in Maori it is really uplifting.

As for England, I like Dave's suggestion - a great song. O Canada is another cracker, as is the Aussie one.

Sorry son, but the whole RC Cola and a Moon Pie bit eclipses a grape Nehi by a mile.

Maybe on your side of the track, we don't eat Moon Pies or drink bottom end cola on mine.

Then I guess you don't have a dog in the fight.

Redneck and snobbishness don't really go together.

Nothing to do with snobbishness, Moon Pies aren't the choice of the Southern masses when it comes to dessert. As usual I see you can't stand anyone posting their observations without turning it into a pissing contest. Those that prefer Moon Pies, as I have seen, prefer their grape soda to RC cola every time. Drink your RC, I'll have a Coke and a smile. Oh, and my dog will enter any fight it chooses.

This is just a remake of "If I could buy the world a coke ". I don't have a real problem with the multiple languages. I do think all immigrants should learn English .
