Personally, I’m not real big on tattoos…especially on women. But more to your point; I have a friend who is a tattoo artist, and he tells people to find a design they like and hang it on your wall for five years, then decide if you still want it. No one ever listens though.[/FONT]

 

I've heard the 5 year.... but as a 1 year... sounds like a waitable period.

The other one I heard is... do you think this tattoo world look good on your
MOM (or dad if your a guy) because you will only be young for a little while
and you will eventually look alot like you parents (ouch!)

I have several neices, most have tattoos and when I ask one why she got
two dolphins kisssing on their low back.... she says "I dont know just... cause"????

Significant Tatoos have logic Military Tats, the name of your belovid mother, father, child, religious or tribal.... but most seem like "temporary insanity" with "permanent results"

Well, I've shown my tatoo here on LK's thread...........My only regret is that the color fades away ...........But, if they are tasteful, I think they are a very nice added bonus to a person! The brunett up above definately needed some help to overcome her average looks, the art done on her, in my opinion, made her very hot to look at! I really dig that type of art work, and respect the pain involved in having them installed!

The blonde with the forehead tat is an idiot! Try going to a job interview with that stuck on your head...........sheesh..........If she did it for a million bucks, then maybe it would have worked, because she could have invested the money and lived off of the interest...............

my neighbor did both my tattoos a long time ago, i dont regret them. they don't mean anything. i like them cause they're the only thing about me that makes me look "not-so innocent". the one on my arm is kinda faded, and im not going to get it touched up. well, actually, the one on my arm does mean something to me, my close friend josh (his cousin was my neighbor that did the tattoo) was with me when i got it done. it was his idea for me to get it, and we smoked a blunt while i was being tattooed. i didnt feel a thing. =] josh was killed last year, so it reminds me of him everytime i actually think about it.

 

I have one tattoo and I love it because it means something significant to me, I designed it and it's in a place where not many people can see it.

And tattoos definitely do make a man more attractive to me. Dave Navarro. Tommy Lee. Jesse James. Mmmmm mmmm mmmm mmmm mmmmmmm!!

As mentioned several times above, it depends on the person and where the tattoo is placed.

Myself, I have a tattoo of my family shield on my right arm, so there is meaning there.

My girlfriend isn't bothered by it at all, though she may have some reservations about the one I want to put on my left arm. See there are two parts that make up my family crest, the first being the shield, the second being a meremaid looking into a hand-held mirror, and as it is with most meremaids that aren't part of Disney movies or other cartoons, she's topless. But I'm not worried about it at the present moment, I have to save up the money first, and then find a reputable tattoo parlour in my area, so I'll cross the "Hey Babe, guess what, I'm getting a tattoo of a topless woman on my arm" bridge when I come to it.

to me, its art. i dont have any atm but im making up the plans for them. they consist of things i general like....not like stupid fads or anything that can be over come, but things you see or do nearly everyday kinda thing.
tats are body modifaction...its been around for thousands of years(hense tribal tats)to get them, yes you have to be sure your not going to fall out of love with it, they have to mean something(like the ring up there and the name) although i wouldnt get a name unless im really sure.
all they really are is showing the inside of you on the outside, and that can go for tribal, relgion, art, likings, lovers, thoughts, etc. they shouldnt "make you more hot" thats only in the eyes of the beholder. they should just transform you really into something (sometimes) better

I was struck while watching 'Gladiator' as Maximus tried to scratch his 'Legion' tatoo off that he was marked for life by what he really was.

I could not build up the courage to get a tatoo after 'Jump School' but now I wish I had a small one that simply said, 'US Paratrooper'.

As for Tatts.......

I have (since I was of age to get one) been wanting a tattoo of an Alfonse Mucha piece. (for those of you who are curious he was an Art Nouveau artist. I'm SURE you've all seen his stuff at one point or another. He was best known for his "ads" for different products. Usually featuring a beautiful woman with long tendrals of hair and a flowing dress.

I don't know what it is about his work but I think that he captures the essence of a woman's appeal and sensual nature in his work. So what better for a woman to have with her for the rest of her life.

But most of his pieces are so intricate that I'd have to get it done pretty big to capture the detail. So I'm thinking of going for one of his doodles that I have in a book of his work. Who knows. Maybe I'll never get one.

My mom's sick right now (cancer) and her name is Dawn. If she passes away I will certainly get a sunrise somewhere on my body.

 

My tattoo is certainly for me. Which is why it's not on my arm or my ankle where it would be seen daily. I think about someone every time I see it and it makes me smile and warms my heart.

 

of course for yourself, why would you want other people to like a fake personality.
if you choose a tat on the spot then your stupid. you have to give them careful consideration.

the ones im planning, yes i would stuck them on my wall. its me i like me i want me on me =p and besides, im an artist, i think the body is a living canvas. i dont see things the same way "normal" people do.

 

Dog a very cool thread. I myself have several and plans for many more when money is right. I grew up in an environment where my uncles have tattoos, in fact one has almost his entire body covered. My mother has several tattoos and my brother also have several tattoos.

For me it is a statement of individuality as well as a way to carry art that appeals to me and shows others parts of my personality. As for your reason to get a tattoo, I think it is a cool idea and is a unique one indeed. As well as a tattoo that I doubt that anyone could possible regret.

Now for your question as to whether it makes the person sexier or hotte, I think it all has to do with the person myself.

Don't take this the wrong way Dog, but you have no idea what the "RIGHT" reasons are for any particular individual. You say you are not bashing but you sound quite judgmental to me. Not that that's a bad thing...it IS your thread...but I'm just calling a spade a spade.
