  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

Slutwolf, I advise you to edit out that pic if you don't want a code violation. We can't post pics of minors here even if they're completely non-sexual.

first off magic get off your high horse because that was ignorance on the behalf of the instructor and the parents
the child was in violation of several standard range rules that are universal
first being the shorts and open toed shoes with a short sleeve shirt
brass burns can be severe and most ranges have rules requiring closed toe shoes and long sleeves

then the instructor was fucking stupid because he broke rule #1
never ever stand in the line of fire
even the story says he was beside the child but the video shows him slightly in front of her
first he allows her 1 round and then full auto?
there was no progression in skills or abilities
this "instructor" could not have been certified or even closely qualified and the parents are morons
face it they elect to remain in the pit that they call arizona so they are by definition idiots

as pie said I feel for the little girl she will have to live with this for the rest of her life as for the shooting it was an accident. At the risk of sounding cold shit happens people all over the world die from stupid shit every day but we can't ban cars or knifes because they need people to make them work but guns just up and fire on there own. how about instead of banning guns we just ban stupid people.

and if I am reading the fine print at the bottom of the story you went looking for some obscure story about guns just to have something to bitch about

You really are stupid, aren't you? This is the front page of our ABC news website. Pretty easy to spot the story in question. My red arrow obscures the pic.

What's the argument here? That guns should be banned because of bad instructors ?
Should we ban cars too because of poor driving instructors ? They do kill more young people after all.

here is a sample range rules list that most ranges indoor and outdoor use

    1. All Federal, State, and Local firearms laws must be obeyed. All shooters must be legal U.S. citizens or permanent legal resident with accompanying drivers license or green card.

    2. In an effort to maintain and ensure safety and a safe environment the Range Master, Range Staff, and Range Employees must be obeyed.

3.All weapons will be inspected by Range Staff before shooting.

4.Everyone must follow 4 basic safety rules at all times:
1.Treat all firearms as if they are loaded.

    2. Never point a firearm at anything you are not willing to kill, injure, destroy, or harm.

    3. Keep your finger straight and not on the trigger until your sights are on the target and you are ready to shoot.

    4. Be SURE of your target, what it is, what is inline with it, and what is behind it.

    5. Load and Unload ALL firearms ONLY at the firing line and in the shooting lane.

    6. ALL weapons MUST be pointed down range at all times.

    7. ALL firearms MUST be cleared, breach open, and all ammunition/ clips/ magazines removed when not on the firing line.

    8. Sooters MUST wear eye and ear protection before entering the range, no open toe shoes allowed. You will be responsible for any accident. WE reccomend a long-sleeved shirt.

    9. If ANY problem should occur with your weapon while on the firing line, leave the weapon aimed downrange and contact the Range Master or Range Staff.

    10. Do not shoot at anything other than the provided targets, do not draw from a holster, or belt, or pocket with other shooters on the firing line.

    11. Cross lane firing is 100% prohibited. Shoot only at your target.

    12. NO ONE is allowed forward of the firing line at any time, for any reason. Range Staff will clear the line and retrieve anything if needed.

    13. Use only the correct ammunition for your weapon. Reloaded ammunition is allowed with the sighning of a responsibility and liability waiver only. Specialty ammunition such as tracer rounds, armor piercing rounds are NEVER allowed.

14.Brass can only be collected while the firing line is cold, other than that all brass is viewed as lost brass.

    15. NO food or drinks are allowed on the firing range.

    16. IF anyone is believed to under the influence of any controlled or imtoxicating substance.

    17. ALL shooters must be of leagal age to shoot, if under age a parent or legal gaurdian must be present and sighn a form that allows the underage person to shoot.

    18. Only 1 loaded firearm per shooter. No handeling of weapons allowed behind the firing line.

    19. Notify Range Staff of any unsafe activities immediately.

20.NO black powder weapons allowed while others are shooting.

21.NO open toed shoes allowed. Yes this is a repeat of rule 8 and it is 100% enforced at all times.

    22. We reserve the right to deny ANYONE use of the firing range at any time.

This is more than "just another stupid gun accident".

This is an example of how crazy some people really are. In 2008 an 8 yo boy was killed when he shot himself in the head with an Uzi at a gun show in Massachusetts, just like the little girl in Arizona, he lost control of the weapon when it recoiled.

Why is it necessary to use automatic weapons as a tourist attraction, they are virtually illegal to own in every one of the states, except for some very strict regulations. Why was it necessary to be firing it at an open range and most curious who in their right mind thinks that a child should be allowed to fire one?

This is not "just stupid" it is insane.

It was a dumb mistake the instructor made. It was however an accident. Was it an avoidable accident? Yes, it sure was, but it was an accident none the less...

Two people were killed by a mortar round in town close to mine last week while at work. It happen at a metal recycling plant.

Accidents happen, it's a dangerous world we live in. It always has been.....

There is a huge difference between a mortar round being detonated at a recycling plant accidentally and a foolish person(s) thinking that it"s a grand idea to have a child fire a hand held fully automatic weapon.

The first was an unforeseeable accident, the second was insanity.

Yep, it was a very stupid thing to do. The instructor paid the price for his mistake. Will other people learn from it? I really do hope so.....

I don't know the back story to this case, but age isn't necessarily the issue. It's more a case of the experience of the person with the gun, and the competence of the instructor. I don't have a clue what the parents were thinking putting an Uzi in the hands of their daughter, who clearly wasn't ready physically, nor did she have the experience to be operating such a weapon.

However, I don't outright object to kids using guns, there just has to be a solid framework of conditions in place to prevent accidents like this from happening. There are young children that regularly compete in gokart, motorbike and even open wheel single seater racing events. These activities are highly dangerous, but safety is always the number 1 priority, and they don't put kids in race cars that haven't yet proved themselves in go karts etc. There has to be a curve of progression that is realistic, and frankly giving this girl an Uzi just makes no sense at all.

Just for perspective. This kid might be ready for an Uzi.

Having to link to youtube as obviously you can't post pictures or videos kids on this forum.

Frequently, as part of a desert tour, people are given the opportunity to fire a handgun and/or a rifle, single fire. It is a good way to demonstrate the power of a firearm, it is quite startling to a person, particularly a young one, that the recoil of a high powered handgun is incredible, something that they will not likely forget. But a automatic or even a semi-automatic in the hands of a novice is just asking for trouble.
