It wasn't the English's fault what happened to the Native population. First the Spanish wiped out 90% of everyone without even knowing(this was prior to the mass genocide committed in central and south America intentionally perpetrated by the Spanish), by spreading disease that native Americans had no immunity to.

Of those Native Americans that included themselves, most fought on the side of the British in the revolutionary war.

In the War of 1812, declared by the USA on Britain, America tried to annex Canada to their country. They manipulated the Cherokee to fight on their side against their own interests, while again most Native American people were on the side of the British.

The war was a failure for the USA, result was "Status quo ante bellum" meaning "the state existing before the war". No boundaries were changed and nor did the treaty that ended it address the original points of contention.

In fact the only people to lose out were again the native Americans, as the British were fighting to provide them with their own territory (state).


But since then, our countries have pretty much got along well together.

Being a resident of England for over 2 years and the U.S. for the rest of my life I have to say that while England is lovely and has many charms to it, there is a few glaring flaws that I can't handle....

1. England doesn't understand what 24hrs means. Seriously I almost got stranded because a gas station was about to close at 11o'clock!

2. The weather, I'm sorry but I need sun and dry heat.

3. Why do parking lots only take coins when a lot of times you can't break bills for the sole purpose of getting coins? I don't understand England WHY!?!?!!?

Also this is just curiosity or my own ignorance (take your pick) whats up with the English military salute? Is that just the way you guys do it or is it a European thing?
