So i know you can build tolerance to liquor. I've always understood it to mean, after a while, it takes more for you to be drunk. Well, does that mean in the BAC sense, or BAC affects you less.

Lets say, when you first start drinkin, 5 beers in 2 hours gives you a .08. Lets say you drink 3-4 times a week for two years. After those two years, will 5 beers in 2 hours still give you a .08, or will .08 feel less intoxicating?

So does the same BAC affect you differently, or does it take more to reach the same BAC?

 

It's a tolerance level. It doesnt affect your blood-alcohol level just how much it takes to become drunk.

Actually the tolerance refers to the amount of the drug (which alcohol is) it takes to feel intoxicated. In other words when you first started out drinking if it took two beers to make you feel drunk and six beers to pass you out, once you get used to drinking more and more it will take you six beers to feel drunk and two six packs to pass you out.

But tolerance will have absolutely no affect on the blood alcohol level. Even if you don't feel drunk after two beers it will still put you above the legal limit if you have to take a breathilizer.

By the way, building up a tolerance to a drug is usually considered a sign of addiction to that drug.

I actually made some bomb ass pasta today. But i ate it out of a plate, not from the top of my head. Salsa is the key, trust me.

I don't worry about addiction. Yes, i wouldn't go to a club unless i was drunk. Yes, i have more fun at bars when i'm drunk. Yes, i feel good when i'm drunk.

Those are all great big neon signs of addiction, but i don't consider them signs of alcoholism. Not too long ago, i didn't drink for 2 months. Not a single sip. I know many of you will say, thats not that long of a time, but i consider it long enough to "test" myself.

I’ve always been for paying to get your tolerance tested individually and have that number used on your driver’s license as your own personal DUI limit.

I've always had an incredibly high tolerance (I come from a long line of alcoholics). But I've never been that much of a drinker....Mainly because if I want to get drunk at a bar it just costs too damn much!

I have to drink like half a bottle of something to get a good buzz going...it sucks!

 

That's a very sound point, and highlights the doubts that I've always had about the breath test.
I'm not a big drinker, and would objectively feel that I was unfit to drive after as little as a pint of beer, even though it would be very unlikely that I would fail a test.

A hardened drinker could drink much more, fail a test, and yet still be quite capable of driving unaffected.
Of course, the answer is to just not drink at all when driving!

 

Be forwarned, sobriety tests are designed to make you fail! My work here is done, time to go make some pasta!

 

You can still get varying forms of a DUI even if you are under the .08 limit. Wet and reckless is one i think. Also, that footoball player, tank johnson, got busted for "being impaired to the slightest degree." I have no idea what that means though.

My level of alcohol consumption to get drunk changes it seems. Some nights, it seems that i can't get drunk, other days, 2 beers and i'm feelin it.

The days where i have to drink a bunch to get drunk are the worst though. Usually you have your, sober, buzzed, swirved, drunk, shit-faced stage. But on those nights it seems like i go from sober, sober, sober, sober, FOCKED UP SHIT FACED.

On my 22nd bday i kept havin drink after drink after drink. Probably about 10 or so over a 2 hour period. Nothing. When i left the club i started feelin it a lil bit but there was a shoot-out so that was kinda a buzz kill. We go back to my friends house and all i remember was havin one drink there. Like a week later i saw some pictures, god damned i was embarrassed. I have no idea what happened after that one drink.

 

Or in college....like myself. Though I go on a drought while it's summer.

 

Do you have any idea how hard DDs are to come by? Especially ones you want to be around.

While were on the subject of drink.

There are three things i'd like to say:

Do not drink and drive. I did and got done for it. I had two pints and was a quarter pint over the limit. So speeking from experience, dui is a bad idea for yourself more than anything.
Secondly, I hate people who blame drink for their problems or their problems on drink. If you know you do things while under the influence (drive when you wouldn't if you were sober enough to know better, beet up your musses, fight with other tavern patrons) then DO NOT DRINK. If you do then you should be charged with attempted murder. When you are drunk you are not in control of your actions, just as you are not in control of a bullet after it leaves a gun. You can't turn round and use the fact that you weren't touching the bullet when it entered the persons skull so why should you use the same type of excuse with alcohol "Oh i was drunk and didn't know what i was doing!" DON'T DRINK TWAT. I get violent with whiskey. I love the stuff but when i realised i was violent on it i give it up instantly.
And third drink is there to be enjoyed, drink and enjoy yourself, and don't fuck it up for other people.
