As a moderator here, I can look at shared IPs. As a moderator here, I do not have access to to private conversations. Are you so stupid that you don't know that rights to parts of any software can be withheld by the administrator? That's very basic IT knowledge. Any administrator can deny permission to any aspect they see fit.

 

I could say a lot of things, the most important being you preach what you like. The facility to read private conversations is there. If I don't trust you then I'm to believe you've been reading mine. That being the case you've been reading other members private conversations too.

IP tracking is a very imperfect science at best - IP's can be hidden or modified but even without this results are inconclusive, especially if one is using a mobile connection. I have just visited a tracking page which used seven different trackers to trace my IP - three came up with the wrong provider and the wrong city/location, three could not even trace either. Only one was anywhere near accurate, correctly identifing my provider, and getting the location to within 30 or 40 miles of where I actually am.

Of course Mods can access your information, in order to do their job they need the ability to see your e-mail address, your IP and any information posted by you. If you wish to remain anonymous then it is prudent to use a separate e-mail for logging onto porn sites. I doubt the Mods can access private conversations unless permission is given by either party involved (neccessary to enable the reporting of nuisance PMs).

Although what they do is not always perfect I believe that the Mods here do a decent job under extremely difficult circumstances, and it is somewhat churlish, not to mention pointless, to endlessly criticise them.

Joe's original point that free speech has lessened on XNXX does have some basis however - I did prefer it when there was less moderation a few years ago, but much of the change has been driven by the owner/admins, not the current Mods.

Actually we don't have the capability to read conversations that we are not involved in.....again you are peddling utter bullshit.

Conversations are exactly the same as the old PM's, though here on xenforo you can have multiple members in the same convo, however the extra members have to be invited to join.

 

You were quoted as saying "believe nothing on the Internet" or words to that effect. It's in your last couple of hundred posts. I can't be bothered trolling through your history, but it's there. You had also said similar previous to that.

So for my own edification I've been messing around with a "new conversation."

The checkbox called "Allow any one in this conversation to invite others" is unchecked by default.

So it seems Maryland must be mistaken when he says people invited to a conversation can invite others. They probably can't do that unless the box is checked.

As for whether moderators can snoop into PMs, well obviously someone has to be able to do that. This is a porn site. Someone on the ladder has to be able to peek in, to make sure people aren't misusing the system to trade illegal porn. The moderators say they can't do it. No reason not to believe them, right? Of course the administrators have to be able to do it, but the question is, why would they bother, unless they were policing the place for bestiality or c.p.? Word to the wise: don't do anything in the PM system that you wouldn't do on gmail.

While we're at it why don't you tell everyone how you know who is online, even if their settings are set to private. You know what threads they are looking at, if they are in conversation and if they are self moderating their pages.

Anyone has the option of leaving a conversation at anytime. It's especially handy for moderators to have an option like this so that if a member persistently questions an answer or decision, others can be included to offer their opinions and advice.
