You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

Interesting little story - let's accept that the title global warming is dead - and settle on the climate change title instead shall we ?

    Buenos Aires sees rare snowfall

[IMG] Buenos Aires residents came out on the streets to see the snow

Argentina's capital, Buenos Aires, has seen snow for the first time in 89 years, as a cold snap continues to grip several South American nations.
Temperatures plunged to -22C (-8F) in parts of Argentina's province of Rio Negro, while snow fell on Buenos Aires for several hours on Monday.
Two deaths from exposure were reported in Argentina and one in Chile.
In Bolivia, heavy snowfall blocked the nation's main motorway and forced the closure of several airports.
In Argentina, several provinces in the Andes have been placed under a storm alert, according to the national weather centre.
But thousands of people cheered in the streets of Buenos Aires at the sight of the capital's first snowfall since 1918.
"Despite all my years, this is the first time I've ever seen snow in Buenos Aires," 82-year-old Juana Benitez was quoted as saying by the Associated Press news agency.
    Energy strain
In Chile, temperatures dropped to -18C (0F) in parts of Araucania region in the south.
Meteorologists predict that the cold snap will last for several more days.
Bitterly cold weather in May caused some 20 deaths and forced the Argentine authorities to ration supplies as the country's energy system came under strain.
Monday's snowstorm struck on a national holiday in Argentina. The authorities are watching the demands on the power grid as the country gets back to work on Tuesday.
However, ministers have already appealed to consumers to save energy where they can. Correspondents say although Argentina's economy has been growing strongly in recent years, there has not been sufficient investment in infrastructure. Argentine meteorologists are predicting more cold and even freezing weather over the next few days.

Its funny how the world has been around for hundreds of millions of years and it only takes us humans a few hundred years to " FUCK " it permanently.

Well, the problem is that global warming disrupts the mid-atlantic current (which is responsible for keeping us at a nice "temperate" climate. It pulls the cold water/air down from the polar ice caps and "drops it off" as it takes the warmer water/air back up north with it.

Global warming is melting the polar ice-caps which causese MORE cold air/water to be brought down........that in turn causes the colder weather in warmer climates.

So even though it SEEMS like a climate "shift" the root of the problem is still global warming.

Yep, and once we're gone, Nature will take less than a couple hundred to restore itself.

That's BECAUSE of Global Warming, silly! ;) Although, I know that you already knew about that.

I'm personally really excited about the eco-movements that are being made. Sure, by most hardcore hippie standards, it's not enough; but considering that in the less 5 years we've made more eco-advancment then in the last 30, it's hella exciting. Because, at least in this aspect of society, you CANNOT take steps BACKWARDS.

... Despite what Dick and Bush want. Fuckers.

I heard a report the other day that the hole in the ozone layer was actually getting smaller. As in it's repairing itself. That's interesting.

But as far as I'm concerned, since I don't buy the global warming/climate change theories (and they are theories) that it's caused by people, what you call it is really six of one and half a dozen of the other. I view it the same way as I view whether it's creationism or intelligent design. Both of them are bad science.

That's quite right the ozone layer is fully capable of self repair. It will still take a couple of decades for it to be completely purged of the CFC's that caused the problems in the first place.

Hey guys, IT IS WINTER IN THE SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE, equal to N.Hemi's Jan 3, about.

Further news the govt doesn't want you to know. The ozone hole caused by Freon was a scam to protect DuPont's patent, the real cause which they carefully omit to tell you about is Mt. Erebus, an active volcano under to hole that belches 100's of tons of chlorine compounds weekly, but the output varies, so the size of the hole varies too.

They must have spent billions buying off enough people to get the ban, or the world's politicians are just so stupid they don't know that it is physically impossible for a gas 400 times heavier than air to migrate intact from the ground in the N. Hemisphere to the stratosphere in Antarctica, and never disturb the ozone layer in the N. Hemisphere.

    Cheers, happy global warming.:rose::rose::rose::rose::rose::rose::rose::rose::rose::rose::rose::rose::rose::rose::rose::rose:

Actually, nature won't NEED to restore itself...whatever the climate ends up being, species that are best adapted to it will flourish. But you're right, the planet would suck up the excess greenhouse gases fairly quickly if there were no more anthropogenic emissions.

Sorry, I just like that word "anthropogenic".

My dear it is physically IMPOSSIBLE for that Freon to migrate like that and then not afffect the N. hemisphere, and there is no doubt Mt. Erebus exists and is active.

That so-called SCIENTIFIC ARTICLE is funnier than hell. Anyone notice that on the one hand they are saying that volcanic eruptions can't go high enough to affect the ozone layer, a baldfaced lie. On the other hand, freon, that is 400 times approx. heavier than air, can get into the stratosphere. Don't you know any physical laws? Heavier objects on earth, don't RISE.

Consider how long chlorinated flourinated hydrocarbons have been banned. If they were responsible, since there have not been any manufactured for 21 years, shouldn't the hole have disappeared by now if they were responsible? (as I said HEAVY things, even gases don't rise into the atmosphere)

    Uh....what???

Since when did a common climate shift, which has happened throughout the ages be a cause for global warming?

Al gore is an idiot, feel the need to clarify my standing on him.

Yes, believe it or not global warming can cause tons of changes...including snow in rare places.

Are people the cause of it? Eh we've probably influenced it in some aspect but we aren't the main cause. The earth goes through various cycles and this could very well be one of them...but there's still more to it then that. Those who want simplistic answers will get them just keep in mind there's always more to it then whats known/shown.

Regardless climate change can still lead to tons of problems (i.e allot and I mean allot more natural disasters) but Global warming is just another way the earth will/is going to hell.

Way too tired to make any valid points so...yeh...just a mindless rant.
