- Language: A feminist guide

 

Despite claims by the mass media, I still observe females being ashamed of their bodies, mostly from external sources from a very young age. So it's not surprising that females would feel reluctant to have a frank conversation about certain areas of their anatomy. Years of being taught "vagina" is a dirty word...

 

I think that's interesting that they consider "cock" a degrading word. I've never liked the word penis or dick because it doesn't have the same impact as cock...they're not masculine sounding at all!! Personally, I like to name cocks because they have their own personality and sometimes I do refer to them as manmeat just because lionesses love meat.

As far as calling vaginas different things, I've heard some very creative names.

It is surprising that so many women don't know where their anatomical parts are located.

 

For me, what I find funny, is I'm embarrassed to say "pussy" around my regular girlfriends. I mean we all say it but I'm very blunt with the vagina, vulva, pubic mound, labia, clitoris talk. That doesn't bother me at all but it does come off as clinical. Now with my *girlfriend* I do say pussy but generally it's because I'm or we're both horny. Likewise, I have no issues saying penis but I waffle on dick/cock. It's mostly context as to which term I use. If I'm talking the act of sex or in the moment, cock is the word of choice. Otherwise it's penis/dick.

I couldn't imagine not knowing about my biology. I was inspecting my business with a mirror long before I figured out how all the plumbing worked.

It's interesting. In my native language (german) we actually have a fairly neutral word for the female genitalia - "Scheide", which means "sheath" if you translate it literally (and which, incidentally, is what the latin word "vagina" originally meant). Girls learn it from an early age, it's easy to say and has hardly any sexual connotations while not sounding artificial or foreign like "vagina". Curiously, there's no similar word for the penis; "Glied" ("member") is being used, which sounds a lot more artificial, while other words like "Pipi" are just childish. There's of course a large body of other words for the pussy, with varying degrees of sexual connotation and harshness; german is nothing if not an inventive language.

Similarly, italian has a whole dictionary full of fica-alternatives, many of which sound old-fashioned and/or quaint, but a lot are in common use. So, it's strange to me that in english there are so few words for it. I struggle with this every time when I write a story, because there's only so many times you can use "pussy" until it gets old, and while I have a few alternatives I like to mix up - slit, muff, twat, cunt, fuck hole - it doesn't take long until it gets silly ("grotto", "lust cave", "clam"). It's a shame, and a challenge.

So I'm always happy to learn new english expressions I can use in stories, not just for the vagina, but for anything sexual. I just learned "flicking the bean" for clit masturbation, which is totally cute, and a while ago a reader referred to her anus as the "dark star", which I thought was pretty and descriptive at the same time.

 

Ah yeah, and as far as women not knowing what's going on between their legs - that's hard for me to understand. I guess because I've been curious about sex for such a long time and have been experimenting with myself all along I simply can't understand what kind of socialization a woman needs to go through to be oblivious of her own sexuality and anatomy. However, I found it to be common enough, especially in women who were raised catholic (which, even though I am catholic, was never a strong influence on me). On the other hand, that always gives me an opportunity to show them a trick or two. Win-win, y'all.

 

I've never had difficulty in locating a vagina. I have a detector that points immediately in that direction. It's called my dick.

 

I say "vagina" in polite company, "pussy" otherwise. I seriously dislike "cunt."

I never used cutesy euphemisms.

 

Fear of being politically incorrect and going to jail is probably a good reason

Well, I don't love calling mine "Scheide", but I don't dislike it either. It's a neutral word and I don't have any strong emotions about it. Which is probably as good as it gets.

Außerdem kommt's ja drauf an, mit wem man drüber spricht. Beim Frauenarzt benutz' ich eher "Scheide", mit guten Freunden wird's dann schon eher die "Muschi" und meiner Freundin sag' ich schon mal, sie soll mir die "Fotze" lecken.

Fudd, Bixn/Büchs, Muschi, Möse, Schlitz, Fotze, Vagina, Scheide, ...

Possibilities are endless.
