If the story scenario makes it clear the person is both eighteen AND ignorant and explains why, it might be okay. For instance, it seems reasonable that a young adult raised in captivity or isolation, without exposure to much of the outside world, might not know about tab A going in slot B. Forum rules clearly state that children under the age of 18 must not take part in nor witness any sexual act between other children or adults. Where does their knowledge of sex suddenly come from at the age of 18. Describing them as sexually aware when they turn 18 automatically implies that they have taken part in, witnessed, seen videos, photos involving sexual activity or seen drawings or read books about sex.

He set the minimum age for sexually aware and active characters in posts (not just stories) at eighteen. We don't know the reasoning behind this decision. He didn't ask for member input and didn't explain his actions. I'm quite sure he knows the age of consent varies across the globe.

He has not set limits on stories about incest, bestiality, or violence. We don't know the reasoning behind that either. Again, I'd bet he knows laws vary from place to place. For all we know, the laws about these acts in real life where he lives may differ from the rules he set for the site. His call. It is what it is.

There's no point in demanding an explanation. The man may lurk on the site, but he doesn't sign on. Don't waste your time debating a number, because he probably won't see the discussion.

I was leaving laws out of it, as it very quickly becomes obvious that it makes no sense talking about them. It was brought up (in another thread), so I didn't comment until someone else agrees that laws were relevant.

Folks here are willfully missing the point. Everybody is trying to be a rules lawyer instead of accepting things like adults.

Underage sex laws are lame, especially for prose, but if the admin chooses to be gun-shy about that then fine. If something ends up in court the judge making the decision isn't going to care about technicalities. He's going to say if it looks like pedophilia, smells like pedophilia, and quacks like pedophilia, then it's pedophilia. Sure, other extreme, even violent, kinks are viewed as protected speech, it's only where kids and sex are concerned that there's a legal kneejerk that some 9-year-old girl is going to be molested because there's a story about a 17-year-old girl seducing her high school teacher. It's not rational but it is what it is, because true molestation of truly naive children is absolutely vile.

It doesn't matter that a non-zero number of real life people at or above the age of 18 are totally naive about sex, because reality is unrealistic. This is fiction, where all scenarios and events are deliberately chosen by the author.

Hey, I love a good losing virginity story as much as the next fellow, but I want the virgin to know the basic mechanics and that it's something they want to do because it feels good. The anticipation of sex or the quest for sex or the sheer marvel of good fortune at the hot girl from next door or the hot older sister crawling naked into a guy's bed and inviting him to fuck her is where all the fun comes from. If the virgin is all, "what goes in where?" and "Is it going to hurt?" like they've never heard of sex before, that's not only lame for me but tells me the author's fetish is 12-year-olds or people who may as well be 12-year-olds due to growing up extremely sheltered or on a desert island without adult supervision or something. We're not talking about knowing or not knowing how pregnancy works, or knowing or not knowing how menstruation works, but the vast majority of normal 18-year-olds have been aroused, masturbated, and know at least the root basics of sex. Any scenario you can construct in which an 18-year-old is completely naive about such things just means there's a 99% chance you are deliberately trying to get around the rule.

If extreme naivete due to underage or otherwise is your kink, hey, more power to you. But suck it up and realize the powers that be aren't going to allow it here. If you want to write a character that has questions about sex, keep it reasonable, demonstrate they have some baseline of knowledge and just have a few more things they are curious about. Even something as simple as "I've heard it usually hurts the first time, is that true?" instead of "Will it hurt?"
