The powers granted by the Constitution were very limited, intentionally so that states could retain their sovereignty. It is only the interpretation of the document that has decreed additional powers to the executive branch and to the judiciary. With the exception of the Bill of Rights, there have been just 17 amendments ratified by the states, of which two cancelled each other. Of those amendments, ten were about voting, terms of office, legislators pay or succession of elected officials. State sovereignty, Income tax, slavery, sex discrimination and citizenship are the only other amendments.

The SCOTUS has taken great latitude in their interpretations of the otherwise clearly written limits to federal powers. This is something of which I believe the founding fathers would be aghast about.

 

It is today, now that the career politicians have learned how to adjust the interpretations of the U.S. Constitution to fit their ''buying votes'' ,''nanny state'', ''people are too stupid to provide for themselves'', General welfare clause did not mean or intended to mean a handout from the federal fucking government, it was intended to mean protection for foreign invaders.

NOPE. . . , the voters were manipulated to believe that the federal fucking government is their friend, while taking away various liberties and responsibilities right out from under their feet.

While since the creation of a DoE has also cast in place the indoctrination of our youth to believe that the federal fucking government is the highest power and is not limited by the U.S. Constitution, and none of this is a coincidence, it's just the ''progressive movement''.

The last line of that quote covers both the "general welfare" claim and the ways Congress has, little by little, increased their own power while removing the power of the states and the people.

The first show I caught this morning was Meet the Press (I slept later than usual). But he didn't sound like he was on damage control when he was on the phone with Chuck Todd.

He did bring up a good point, though. He said that everyone keeps talking about all of his alleged crimes of not being politically correct, and he said that not one question was asked of him about jobs and the economy during the entire debate. And that's what he wants to talk about the most, but everyone keeps focusing on being offended. And after Chuck hung up the phone, he and his panel of guests talked about nothing but how he can't be President because of these crimes of un-PC.

I have read Trump's goals for the country. They are exactly what this country needs. Unfortunately he seems to lack the temperament to be elected. Which really is a tragedy.

However it is much to soon to predict who will win the nomination. It does appear though, the powers that be prefer Clinton vs Bush.
