I wasn't including you in the "annoying intolerant atheists". You and Snoochies both discuss religion a lot but you don't keep trying to tell me what to believe and that what I believe is bullshit and that I'm dumb for believing it, and I appreciate that

 

when i was young and my mother was changing denominations, to roman catholic she allowed me to participate in the adult classes and allowed me to make my own decisions, even as young as i was. I saw something i belived as the truth and now i am somewhat of a devout catholic, even if i dont make it to mass all the time, i follow God, Jesus, Holy Spirt, Mother Mary, think you get the point now so im going to stop naming religious figures now.

 

I also like to think that people who say "show me proof" are entited to their thoughts, however all i ask is that they dont badmouth my god. I think that their is no physical evidence to write either sides thoughts into stone. There is no proof that the belivers ( me included ) can rub in the non belivers face, except that we can prove that someone named Jesus Christ did walk this earth, and was executed. And there is no concrete proof that the non belivers can rub in the belivers faces except the words " Show Me Proof. " All I know is that myself knowing that there is a God is good enough for me.

AB, while I expect your right to like and dislike religions (I know I do) I'm surprised at your reasoning. Basing that choice on a ridiculous stereotype is just sad. There are plenty of wiccans who are NOT hippies. Many who work office jobs/suits and ties. The nice thing about wicca is it's VAST diversity in both practices and practitioners. Wicca is one of the few religions without "any" rules. The only "commandment" in wicca is "And it harm none, do what ye will" and the belief that what you send out comes back to you "three fold" (later translated into the "golden rule" by xtians-do unto others.....). Wicca is a religion that doesn't demand diety worship. Doesn't demand devout prayer or "masses", "services", etc. One can practice alone or in groups (covens). While, yes, there are MANY hippie wiccans, there are many who aren't. Writng off all of them is like writing off all Muslims because of the few who are bombing "infidels". It's retarded, pathetic, narrow-minded, and sad.

I should have clarified. What I should have said was, in my personal experience, Pagans and Wiccans are just a bunch of dirty hippies with delusions of grandeur. I personally have never met a Wiccan that didn't say to me "Yeah, it's great being a Wiccan, I get naked and stoned all the time, and then I talk to trees and stuff, and they talk back, but it's cool cause it's relgious."

So, though it is really no excuse, I will also point out that I am still taking heavy doses of pain medication. So most nights I'm on the internet, flying higher than a kite, so the part of my brain that filters out the dumb shit doesn't really work. So Snoochies, you're right, I'm still recovering.

I'm not wiccan. Never really was. I used to dabble in spell-casting but have long since lost any effectiveness at it.

That being said, like I said there are a few religions I can't stand. But it's because of their practices and offensive nature. Not because I think ALL (insert religion here) are a certain type of people.

I know where you're coming from. There are plenty of people who use wicca and paganism as an excuse to be lazy and crazy. But there are plenty who live perfectly normal well-rounded lives. (not that she's a good example but Cybil Shepherd is wiccan.)

So there are some "normal" ones out there.

And I don't know enough about scientology to have an opinion on it. But I do know that it's a little too weird for me.

 

Apology accepted, sir. Medications can really screw you up but those so called Wiccans you have met, I dont think would be accepted by others. But read the rede below, as you see, tolerance is the watchword.
