I was at Block Buster recently and I happened to stumble across a new kind of candy, called a candy paint brush, or some such name. Apparently the sugar intake from Snickers wasn't sufficing so they came up with this invention which is a paint brush made of pure crystalized sugar, which comes with a paint can made out of pure sugar; the goal of these items being to paint your mouth with sugar, it's beyond me why people don't just shoot the sugar up like a heroine addict, but hey, whatever. Anyhow, with obesity rampant in America, and shit like this coming out, it makes me wonder if America should regulate this crap. I mean, Marijuana's illegal, and it doesn't kill people, and yet Heart Disease is the number 1 killer in America, and there's no regulation over the crap they sell. Hell, Cigarettes are coming under fire from everyone, and Heart Disease kills I beleive 6 times as many people per year, and no one goes to Hersheys and starts trying to sue them. So anyhow I was wondering what you guys think of all this. I'm not really big at all on government regulation, but I hate hypocrisy even more. Perhaps there should be cards where you get your BMI registered and that determines what kind of selection you get at a restraunt? Feel free to flame me or whatever, but I'm in a cynical mood right now.

 

The government has no right to tell us what we can or can not eat. Though they are trying to make it where they can.

 

And a very little known and I think kept secret fact: SUGAR is responsible for much of childrens ADHD and hyperactivity I proved it with my child. They gave him enough Ritalin and Melloril to make him psychotic. I checked the PDR and called the doctor out on it and he went and read it and agreed with me. He just didn't know and he was the leading pediatrician in Modesto.

And so the governments solution in the schools is make the kids drink soda that has insect poison (methanol precurser) in it.

I think that if the gov't can say doing drugs is bad, because they hurt your health, than they can't turn around and let people gorge them selves on this shit that's put out by McDonalds because it hurts your health just the same. I'm not making this thread to argue for legalization, just to point out hypocrisy.

Right and you've probably gotten some very good advice on how to be healthy. A lot of people don't get good advice, they get it from magazines, and people who say how "jacked" they are and how they did it when they probably did it the unhealthy way or they get it from their families who might also have very bad eating habits. I just think that people should learn, from a young age, how to be healthy, besides the simple "brush your teeth every day, eat your vegetables" same shit different day routine stuff.

 

If you were never allowed to eat Mcdonalds again, but it'd add 20+ years to millions of peoples lives, would you be willing to make that sacrifice?

 

It's up to the person! "Land of the free" It isn't always free but lets try to keep it as free as we can.
We shouldn't control other people or what they want to eat.
Some people eat raw meat and have all their lives and think it's the healthiest for them.
(They dont get sick because that's all they've eaten)

This is absurd. The government cannot regulate what we can and cannot eat.

For God's sake, if people are too stupid to figure out that eating fast food and sugar all the time is unhealthy, then they probably deserve to be fat and unhealthy. But its really not that they are stupid, its just that we don't care. This fast paced society demands fast food, and snacks on the go. Until we change our lifestyle, our society will continue to fatten up.

On another note-I am so sick of people expecting the government to do everything. Basically what I'm hearing here is that you want the government to parent our children. It is not the government's job to tell us what is healthy to eat. That is a PARENT'S job. But this is just another example of lazy ass parents wanting the government to do everything for them.

Truthfully, I think herion should have an age limit. I've done it! I haven't died, grown 4 extra arms, or become deformed.
People should be able to do what ever they want to themselfs as long as they arn't effecting others. It's called having your OWN life and doing what YOU want to with it. Yes, parents should teach their children right.
