I am sure you have a high opinion of Ronald Reagan. Before being elected president he served as governor of California for eight years. On various occasions I have pointed out that more jobs were created per year under Jimmy Carter, the unemployment rate never got as high as it did under Reagan, and there was much less deficit spending.

The running political narrative is that Trump is losing steam.

Probably wishful thinking.

A couple polls have him down a point or two, but another poll has come out that has him at 31% and Carson at 13%.

Carson has new problems brewing. There will be stories coming out over the next few days about all the pending malpractice suits against him. IMO it's just a Herman Cain style hatchet job. Every doctor has malpractice suits. They don't even show up in court. They have insurance and law firms that handle all of that. But Carson will be painted as Dr. Frankenstein.

Same way Romney was painted as an evil capitalist for working at Bain. Now Deval Patrick is being spun as a possible running mate for Biden. Guess where Deval Patrick took a job after leaving the Mass. Governor's chair? That's right. Bain.

Romney was a nutty Mormon with magic underpants and polygamist ancestors. Harry Reid is also a nutty Mormon with magic underpants and polygamist ancestors. Reid also somehow managed to accumulate an $11 million fortune from nothing, with a senator's salary, whilst living in the Beltway. Remarkable. But Reid was a respected statesman, and Romney was a Mormon nut and probably corrupt to boot.

Most Americans are not the least bit aware of these contradictions, and they don't care. But they do vote.

Another problem with Ben Carson that ought to concern you clarfise is that he claims to believe in the literal truth of the Genesis creation story. This maintains that the universe is young, and was created in six days less than 6,000 years ago. For someone who has been through medical school to believe this requires remarkable mental acrobatics.

I want a president who is able to evaluate evidence and determine what is true and what is false. It is possible for such a person to believe in God. It is not possible for such a person to believe that every species is less than 6,000 years old.

 

A Neurosurgeon who doesn't believe in the theory of evolution . That's even more rare than a black republican . I'm sorry I couldn't help it

It's a teensy bit early for this poll shit.

 

I think they want the White House, but they have little to run on, but tax cuts for the only people who have prospered during the twenty first century. That is why they spend so much time throwing dirt at Hillary, hoping that some of it will stick.

I am not sure why the Republican Hate Machine has not gone after Bernie Sanders yet. He has said that he wants to raise the top tax rate to 90%. If Sanders wins the New Hampshire primary, I expect the RHM to start inventing fake scandals about him and discovering grave character flaws in him.

I read somewhere that Sanders and his wife visited Moscow on their honeymoon. If that is true you can bet we will be hearing about it when the RHM begins to take Sanders seriously.
