My story is a coming of age for both the guy and the girl. She's almost 14 - how does she handle hanging out socially with 18 to 20 year olds? It's about relationships, and partying, and drinking, and oh yeah, there's some sex. If they're both 18+, it's not much of a story anymore.

 

Well, the one I've semi-abandoned because of the rules is a pair of 16 year old twins who've just gotten permission from their parents to date. Since they've never done anything before - she convinces him that they need to practice kissing with each other - and it snowballs from there. I was already dating and kissing girls at 15...and a bit more.

 

If you don't like the rules, why are you still here beating a dead horse? Arbitrary or not, them's the breaks, kid. Ask for a refund of your membership dues, threaten to stop advertising here unless you can set the standards for content of a site that you don't own, complain about it ad infinitum to the users who have no power over what is hosted here. You're wasting your breath.

 

Because if we who don't like the rules or how they are applied can make our arguments in a civil and rational way, maybe TPTB can see fit to change the rules. Mostly, however, I have moved off this site, now posting at AFF. I just check back here once in awhile.

 

There is no incentive for TPTB to change the rules to suit your needs or anyone's needs. Why? As I've said many, many times before...this section of the overall site generates $0 in revenue. In fact, it costs money to have this message board in operation. It itself doesn't generate a dime. So, what you have is an owner with potential liability because someone writes a story that offends the ethics or morals of some asshole in some god-forsaken country, who then issues a warrant for the owners arrest, blah blah.............and for what? So, instead, the owner set the age limit to 18, pisses some people off, they leave, and the site continues on as usual. In the end, no one gives a shit either way who comes or goes...there will always be writers, always be readers, and the site continues. Case closed.

 

Do you or animal99 think the administrator reads the forum? Why not send the people who can change things a message directly instead of propagating a thread that isn't a sex story? You're encouraging the decline of the site by debating about sexual content and not instead writing some of your own.

 

No entitled progressive liberal here. I know the owner owes me nothing. The best I can do is make my argument, and if it's still not what I want, I'll go elsewhere. I have written some of my own and it's now at Stories On Line, and there's some at other sites I had been to before coming here.

 

Cheltingham, You missed the point of my response - I was responding to the previous reader's accusation as to why I did NOT report a story... It wasn't about disagreeing with the rules.. I simply didn't want to report it. It is no longer my job to make people follow rules or to prosecute those who don't.

Her position is that if you don't report stories, you enjoy reading them. She neglected to see further implications of my actions/in-actions.

You, on the other hand, totally misconstrued my response to her/his statements.

My previous statements that you quoted were stating the ineffectiveness in making everyone happy by arbitrarily making the mandatory age of characters at "18 and over", when that would only satisfy a few people in this world because "legal age" varies by geography and country.

As to encouraging the decline of the site.... inaction on the part of admins will do that soon enough. It doesn't require any further action from me. And as a visitor, I will have front row seats to the entire debacle.

 

Question. How long does it take for TPTB to actually get to reports?
I sent one two days ago about a story - and the user as their only other story also violates the rules severely. Story is still up.

 

From what I've heard / my own experience, the "report" button on the stories site is just a placebo, nobody cares about the reports, if they even end up somewhere.

It seems obvious, that no effective moderation of the stories site is taking place right now, mainly because there's too many stories and not enough volunteers moderating them. Probably because whoever makes the rules has killed any motivation to do so stone dead.

 

You attempt to speak for yourself and "everyone" when you don't actually have that authority. This site does not allow underage members, i.e. those "under the age" of eighteen. Why would the content allowed feature characters younger than the membership? In many cases, children partook in sexual intercourse with grown adults, as per the previous set of rules. This doesn't involve international "legal age" as much as it involves the high limit standard of the age of majority. If it bothers you so much, contact the site's hosts and take your argument there. Until then, continue your quiet complacence regarding the content of the stories you habitually read.

I actually support the new rules. He says I don't. I don't see why... but he does.

 

Maybe you're right. Stories I reported last week are still up - and the same author just put another one up today. I'm not talking kids in the 15-17 range here in her stories - we're talking kids as young as 4. Absolutely insane that these are allowed to exist at all.

Report button does seem to be dead people, may it rest in peace.
