  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

    Best regards,

How would you you feel if you didn't miss and they were just a kid? And what if you missed and they took the gun from you? Your situation just got sooooo much worse.

BTW they've arrested someone for the Ipswich murders today. I don't believe firearms were used at all in the investigation or making the arrest.

I dont carry a snub nose. I carry a 5 inch 45, and I do not miss. I like most gun owners have taken the time to learn and train with our weapons. Why? because that is part of the responsibility

Anyone who wants to hurt my family or steal my property has to deal with "My right to bear arms". If you come at me with the above intent, you will get harmed, no matter what age, race, or sex. I am a martial artist, so I can handle myself with anything other than a gun. When it is a gun I return fire.No pun intended. No one will take my gun while I am alive.

I think you vastly underestimate the safety precautions we use with our guns.

You may be right, Thandrend. However, it is still a lethal weapon and people are killed by their own guns with alarming frequency. You and PITMASTER may be quite correct that you are sensible and cautious and safe with the guns you own, but that is apparantly not the case with many of your countrymen.

I was not in any way being sarcastic in my comments, though. I DO hope PITMASTER stays safe, and I hope the same in your case. I just know that the statistics I've seen indicate that carrying a gun makes you more, not less, likely to be the victim of a shooting and I hope it doesn't happen to you.

And I know, because you are a bright bloke with a different opinion on this than me, that you'll probably be able to produce stats that show the opposite if you look hard enough. And you'll trust your sources. And I'll trust mine. And we'll continue to disagree and be civil about it.

And I like that about you.

Where that shooting happened, is about 20 mins. from where my brother's family and my parents live. Quite a tragedy, very sad indeed.

Where to start. First, I do have a handgun so I am for the Right to Bear Arms. Mostly, I use my gun for range shooting, but it is used for protection as well. But I also think that it has gotten WAY out of control too. I think someone that owns an elephant gun, for example, to use JUST for protection is full of shit. I have a .45, that's enough.

Gun control is NOT happening, unfortunately. Background checks??? Gimme a break! Gun/Pawn shops couldn't care less, they want their money, period. The shops have absolutely no morals, it's all about the mighty dollar. If anyone remembers a few yrs. back, the sniper in the Wash. D.C. area? I bought my gun where he bought his rifle, in Tacoma, Wash.!!! If I'm lying, I'm dying!!!! Anyhow, I believe it was found that 3 yrs. of audits/purchases/records from the gun shop were missing!!!!! YIKES!!!!!

Bottom line........if gun control is not beefed up very soon, then I'm afraid I am for a ban until things are taken care of. But realistically, you won't see that happen anytime soon. The NRA is a HUGE reason. Oh, the lobbying is just non-stop.

mrmrs, if you're vying for this year's Bag of Hammers award, you're too late, it's already been announced. You're in the running for next year, though.

Oh, and good luck fighting off the U.S. government with your handgun. I'll have fun watching that on television.

Problem? Would you like to be a target at 25 yards and see if I would miss? I have 10 years of local and national competition experience in both rifles and handguns. Again, I dont and I wont miss.

I had a fair bit of experience shooting hand guns before they were made illegal in the UK.
After feeling the power of a 9mm BRNO and a .357, it gave me a lot more respect for guns, and how the real effect of being hit by one was severely underplayed in the movies.

It also made me realize that shooting a person would be far, far different from shooting a target.
If it came to it.....I'm not sure if I could do it!

So, don't get too cocky because you can hit a target!!

It occurs to me that there are a lot of road accidents, but every one I know that's a driver thinks they know what they are doing and it willnever be them losing control of their car. Is the same the case with guns?

True. As a matter of fact that is very true! I myself have different experiences, ones that I can not explain nor go into detail about. For this I will say, no one has the right to take another life.It chills you to watch someone dying and watch thier life blood drain from their body.Did not mean to get morbid. I will stand down now.

Yes. Only that training and years of conditioning, are what makes a difference. Now you can have the same with a vehicle except the variable is the other driver. You cant control his actions or what he will do.With a firearm its all you.

I beg to differ with you.... First of all, I am not a member of NRA, nor was I in the military, not a cop either, and I am not a hunter of Bambi.....
Having said that, there has been handguns and rifles in my family for generations. And as far as I can tell, none of us has ever murdered anyone
I own several myself and I let it be known that I do, and that some are loaded and in a place of easy access to me. I have a sign about halfway up my driveway that clearly states my intentions.... trespassers will be shot and survivors will be shot again.. and then my dog's going to bite you too ..... it is funny that no one comes onto my property....... lol.
Now that everyone that is anti-gun thinks I am a Nazi or worse...lol... you look at all the countries that have out-lawed firearms.
Check the murder rates before the ban....then 10 years afterward..... the murder rate is the same....but they are using knives..rocks... ice picks... baseball bats...poison (which is already banned in most countries)... cars... etc.....Are we going to ban everthing except pillows??? oh wait, people use those to murder with too....damn...Do we ban automobiles when a drunk-driver kills someone?...of course not.
All I am saying is that firearms are not at fault for murders....truely it is people who are the real cause of murders....
Sorry to get on a rant... but ignorance of the facts of the case is intolerable to me

Which countries are you talking about? I'd be interested to see those stats. Can you point me to the website, or the publication?

there have been guns in my family since the things were invented in Europe some 600 years ago.

I really doubt that they'll ever be taken, and that's really all it boils down to. America really does have it in it's head that guns are our way of feeling secure. Granted, there are morons who go out and shoot up schools, tragedies. Those are people that shouldn't be allowed to walk the street. Do we blame their access to guns on why they did it, or their extreme lack of psychological help? Where do we draw that line, sirs? Why am I to be blamed for what another man has done.

Yes, I am a good shot. Yes, I am prepared to kill another person to defend my life, or my family's lives. Do I want to? No. That's what makes it all different for me, and those others who do it for pure pleasure.

When I join the military, will I want to kill another man if it comes down to it? Only if they try to kill me first. I'm not some crazy vietnam loving person who wants to go in, kill the men and rape the women in front of their children.

Why am I viewed as in-humane, because of some lug in Pennsylvania, or some dumbasses who have guns, yet know not how to use them?

    I would like to know.

Trumpet, you might find that all of my points are pure opinion, do not think of me as any less of a man for stating what I believe to be true. I am not pulling my information from any site, just from my head. As it is, I love arguing with you, as well, you stay civil. And that makes you a better man than most. And a better man for standing up for what you believe.
