  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

    Best regards,

    StanleyOG.

You gun touting Yanks all seem highly sensible NOW - but what happens when you start to lose your marbles - or you just have the shittiest day of your life and want to take it out on someone - oh I know I'll pick up my gun, that I never miss with, and take it out on some people who REALLY deserve it.

Give me a break - the availability of guns, makes it hugely more likely that there will be harm done.

Someone's comments about do you want to be a target so I can show you I never miss - what a dick - you are already showing the signs of gun sicosis. (spelt wrong but I know what I mean!)

Thanks for taking this all in the spirit it's intended.

I hope I haven't accused you of being less of a man or being inhumane for your belief in the right to own firearms. I don't think that's the case. If you were owning guns with the explicit and understood will to do people harm that would be different.

The way I see it, and this is also opinion mate, and I'm sorry if it offends, the folks like you who are rational and sensible, who take precautions in the way they store, use and own guns, they aren't bad people. They're mis-informed about how protected they are by owning guns. That doesn't make them bad. But it does make me want to point out that they've made what I see as a mistake in their reasoning, or their research, because if I can convince them of that they will be safer.

The people I worry about more, though, are those like PITMASTER, who when challenged about his right to bear arms offers to use Caffeine as a target. It strikes me as particualrly dangerous when someone who owns a gun can be driven to threaten to use it on a stranger so easily. That is not a good sign, surely. (It also indicates that he has one of those fancy modern guns that can hit a target through 700 Gigabytes of Cyberspace, so I've started sitting off to one side of my monitor in case he takes a dislike to me too!:-D )

Trumpet, bigbird, your both assholes.....The target thing was just banter and a response to dig that came from an infant who had nothing to add but nonsense. Dont worry about me, cause when the shit goes down, you will look to a guy like me for protection. Why? Cause you live in the UK. Where they have no guns and cant shooot worth a shit.Cant hit the broadside of a barn.Look at your help in Iraq. I am happy that you guys stepped up, but, you cant shoot shit. Dont come at me with BS. I am not a child and I will not take it. You dont know me. You dont know what I have seen or been through. You want to know and have a true debate? You want to get to know me? I will give you my phone number. Call me anytime.Until then, dont get off on thinking you know who I am and jump all over me.Anyone want that number? PM me.

OK, so I'm not here to defend Caff, but I'm sorry, he's not an infant and he doesn't add nonsense on this forum, so let's nto get into name calling.

And I don't know you or what you've seen. But equally you don't know me (or Caffeien) so lets not go there, OK. Let's keep things civil and not threaten violence over the internet. That's just a bit silly, don't you think?

And I'm not getting in to the debate about wheter our boys are better than your boys in Iraq, because that's just dumb. I know a couple of ex-squaddies who served in the first gulf war. They tell me they were more scared of US air support and friendly fire than they ever were of the Iraqis, but can they shoot? How the hell would I know?

Anyway, back to something substantive: What "shit" do you think is going to "go down" that you would be able to protect me from? I just don't follow your logic. If you'd like to calmly explain then I'd be happy to debate it with you.

After reading all the post in this thread i have to admit there are some very eloquent arguements from both sides of the issue. As a life long gun owner ,life time member of the NRA,life time hunter and also a holder of a concealed carry permit in the great state of Oklahoma , I just want to express my gratitude to our founding fathers for having the foresight to look at the history of the world and the governments that were in place when they drafted our constitution and bill of rights to protect my rights as well as putting in place a document that will stand the test of time and remain true today as well in the past and future.Am i a gun nut, some may think so,however what i am is a an educated gun owner .Almost all of my weapons and ammunition are safely stored in a safe, with the exception of the one i carry.I have two grown children who were raised around weapons and were taught to respect them and there was never an accident in our family.I thank God i have never had to use a weapon on another human,If the situation ever comes to that point and i do make that choice I wil rely on my training to carry me through it and be thankful that my right to keep and bear arms has not been infringed upon

I agree with the pro gun lobby that it is not the guns that kill it is the people who use them.

I disagree with almost everything else they say.

It is the gun culture that creates an environment in which gun crime and massacres take place, yes the people, not the guns, but take away the guns and you take away the gun culture.

And I've no idea what this is about. Again, if you want to explain I can debate it. If you want to put up random words there's a separate thread for that.

Want to talk about the innocents who find the guns in daddies drawer, pull it out and start to play with it, and whoops it's gone off? How many are killed in the US through stupid use of guns.

An regarding the rest of your comments - my dad's bigger than yours!

Stupidity is a problem that runs rampant in our society, not just in the issue of firearms.Which do you think injures more children each year ,improper use and storage of firearms or school buses that don't have seat belts

Doesn't that suggest that some legislation around school bus safety is necessary as well, then?

I suspect this was either intended for the "What are you wearing" thread, or possibly the "What do you usually drink" thread.

If I'm wrong, I'd be interested to have it explained.

without a doubt the safety of our children is paramount, whether we are protecting them from careless use of firearms , bus safety or anything else that would keep them from being able to enjoy their youth.I am not against gun safety just the ban of firearms, which are entirely different subjects

    40 minutes.

And Okieblueyes, I guess I'm really wanting effective gun control too,on the basis that a total ban would be unpalatable to an awful lot of Americans, but that would seem to be something that the NRA and government are scared or unwilling to support. Why do you think that may be?
